Led by Wounded Warriors Canada - the "Warrior Project" in partnership with Homewood Health, Boots on the Ground and more, will bring: ?? A new web portal for public safety personnel to access essential services, ?? A 24/7 call line and other trauma-informed mental health services; ?? The creation of an Anti-Stigma Strategy to eliminate harmful stigmas around seeking help. ????

Brampton is building another tunnel! Actually I mean another smokescreen. How is Brampton council trying to remove personal freedoms from individuals? Today is World Mental Health Day - so let's talk mental health! Where do I begin? On October 9th, a special delegation discussed the Compassionate Intervention Program. Even though council is out of their jurisdiction, throwing this idea that the province hasn’t approved, here is the tunnel idea - Brampton would be a pilot to change the Mental Health Care Act so individuals with mental health issues are forced into treatment! Here's the link—watch it and ask yourself some basic questions: What is council really up to? I suspect this is a diversion to shift the estimated $10 million in service fees that paramedics and police pay for this issue onto the province. https://lnkd.in/g92SZjVi But it feels like there is more - you can't trust council. It didn't receive as much attention at the point of publication as it deserves, but we need to talk about it On 12th December the Health Services Safety Investigations Body (HSSIB) published an investigation report into 'Mental health inpatient settings: Supporting safe care during transition from inpatient children and young people’s mental health services to adult mental health services' https://lnkd.in/ecy37FUU As someone who's particularly interested in the #safeguarding arrangements and systems around those transitioning to adult services its positive to see it noted in the report, but the wider learning and recommendations, whilst not safeguarding specific, would help support what we all want to see. It's a shame no link was made to Section 58 of the Care Act 2014. I will be hosting a standalone meeting of the Independent Health Providers Safeguarding Forum to review and discuss the report for those members with CAMHS or AMHS in their portfolios.

We urge all parties to commit to bold, innovative actions, including: Adequate Funding: Invest in a mental health system that delivers timely, person-centred care accessible to all. 24/7 Crisis Services: Expand round-the-clock crisis teams and safe spaces for those in urgent need. Community-Based Supports: Empower local organisations to provide preventative, recovery-focused, and peer-led services. Innovative Models: Introduce pioneering approaches like Soteria Houses, offering non-coercive, community-based care, and therapeutic initiatives like the Kiery Farm model, fostering recovery through meaningful connection with nature and community. Rights-Based Care: Shift towards collaborative, dignity-driven practices that respect the autonomy of individuals in distress. Mental health is a human issue, not a partisan one.
