We're really excited to welcome you here to the new surgical services expansion project. This is a three-year, $62 million investment in our community and in our healthcare system. And we've done that so that we can ensure that the communities that we serve and the patients that come from those communities are able to get the same high level of service that they would get anywhere else in North Carolina. And what I mean by that is these ORS, the ones that I'm standing right outside of. These are as good as any operating rooms anywhere in the state of North Carolina. We've got the newest technology, we've got much larger spaces, and that's going to help both our surgeons and our staff to be able to provide a level of care that is unsurpassed. It's important that we make investments in our community so that everyone knows that Scotland Health is here to stay, that Scotland Health is committed to doing the right thing for the patient, taking care of our. People and making decisions for our communities for the next 30 years that are really going to benefit them. Hi, I'm Brandy Basic. I'm senior director of surgical services and Cath lab at Scotland Healthcare System. Just wanted to talk to you a little bit today about our renovations and new expansion of our surgical services department here at Scotland with our post anesthesia care unit or our PACU. We have 14 new patient bays. This unit also features a nurses station centered in the middle of the space for easy observation and accessibility. And we have a new isolation room that we can recover our isolation patients, whereas in our current space, we are using an operating room to do that. So this will help increase efficiency in our OR. We will have 5 brand new OR's fully functioning that we were able to perform vast number of surgeries in this space. It also includes the ability to accommodate robotics. Investments in technology were priority for these new rooms. Each room will have three monitors that we can use to allow for real. Some images to be shown for our surgeons during surgery. The surgeons want to see films that were done for these patients when they're in surgery when they had films prior for their MRI's or X-rays for example. The nurse will be able to pull those up real time in the room for the surgeon to view. Our central sterile, clean and decontamination areas will see the biggest change. Space wise. This area is about three times the size of what our staff is currently working in and our new area. Our team will each have a workstation to monitor and track their supplies. We're also implementing an instrument tracking system that will link the instrument trays to the patient. There's a new cart washing station that will pass through from decontamination to the clean side. This provides better efficiency for our team as well. And ask if you will have two fully functioning suites to accommodate patients that come in for colonoscopies and EGD's. And our current space, we only have one endoscopy suite that is fully functioning. So this will allow for increased patient volume and better efficiency for our patients. HOR will have its own clean sweep technology, which helps keep our humidity and temperature controlled. This ensures lower risk for surgical site infections. Also, we have implemented a closed suction system. This will keep our patients safe as well as keeping our employees safe because there's a lower risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens with the closed suction system, We believe that you shouldn't have to go to a larger place or a bigger city to be able to get the sort of care that we provide, we believe. That the best care is the care that's provided closest to home so you can be surrounded by your family and friends throughout this process. So our commitment isn't limited just to the bricks and mortar and the things that we build and the facilities that we expand. It's also committed to the communities that we serve. So here in Scotland County in Laurinburg, down the road South of us in Bennettsville and Upper Marlboro County to our east in Robinson. County and Pembroke in particular, these are communities that we're committed to and the patients that are in those communities that come to seek us out for care. And so we're excited about this new building and the new technology that's in it, and that's going to make a huge difference. But the foundation of the work that we do isn't in bricks and mortar or in wires and pieces of technology. It's in the people, whether it's the patients that we're serving. Their family members are teammates and the physicians that form our medical staff. That's the greatest asset that we have and that's the one that we want to continue to invest in as we go forward. And I'm so thankful to lead this team who are committed to that and committed to the Scotland Way and committed to our communities. That's what makes a difference. I'm David Pope.
