As we approach summer, many parents are grappling with the challenges and costs of keeping their children engaged and cared for while they continue their careers. This post perfectly captures the struggle and raises important questions about our current system. At School's Out, we're working to provide solutions by offering a wide range of activities and options to make summer planning, and ultimately year-round activities, a bit easier. Follow School's Out and let's continue this important conversation. As we say, "busy kids = happy parents. And it shouldn't be this hard."

???? American mom real talk: ?? It is costing me almost $12,000 to put my 4 and 6 year old in various summer camps for 13 weeks. ?? I am also paying a full time nanny a salary to watch my two year old. ?? And I have to hire a part time person for the afternoons to shuttle the big kids back and forth (while the toddler naps) since camps won't always take both a 4 and 6 year old, and they end anytime between 12 and 4pm (depending on the week). ?? I have a week vacation booked for 4th of July to seize holidays which is also costing $$$$ since it's peak travel. ????♀? This is all so I, as a mom of three, can go to the job I love and the career I have put decades into growing. All so I can have an undistracted American summer. How and why have we normalized this absolute dumpster fire of a situation for parents? When will the school systems catch up with the rest of modern society? What are parents without the means to pay for camps supposed to do for THREE MONTHS?! I would love to hear how other parents are figuring out their summer logistics and what it's costing to keep our day jobs.
