Each one offers unique qualities that can elevate our creations. Here are my observations: ? Vetyver India ProcessE MD: A very fresh vetiver fraction, diluted at 40% in Triethyl Citrate for cost efficiency. It brings a vibrant, green freshness. ? Sandalwood Indonesia Oil Extra: Exhibits more character than typical Sandalwood, akin to New Caledonia style. Lacks the milky aspect, with prominent cedarwood notes. Impressively, 80 trees are planted for each liter of oil produced. ? Mimosa IG Absolute Pays de Grasse: Exceptional quality with no cucumber or watery notes. Fresh and floral, capturing the essence of yellow blossoms. ? Violet IG Absolute Pays de Grasse: While it’s a good ingredient, the scent personally doesn’t appeal to me as much. ? Rose IG Absolute Pays de Grasse: Potent and opulent, this floral rose note is rich and luxurious. A truly captivating ingredient. ? Flouve IG Absolute Pays de Grasse: An enchanting ingredient with sweet hay, tobacco, and coumarin notes. Adds a delightful, nuanced sweetness. ? Fleur de Cuir: The highlight of the collection. This unique ingredient is derived from the molecular distillation of Osmanthus, where the fruity parts are isolated. The resulting fractions, considered waste, are blended with cedarwood to create an extraordinary scent. It boasts an animalic and fruity character, making it a truly special addition with its complex and intriguing profile. Calone’s intense marine and ozonic smell is quite unique, providing a backdrop of floral overtones with a very negligible fruit aspect of melon or watermelon. In practical applications, Calone serves primarily as a marine base note. It also plays an important role in the reconstitution of ambergris and has been used in notable fragrance formulations such as the REM accord alongside Benzyl Salicylate and Patchouli, as well as in the aquatic notes of Acqua Di Gio and the marine effects in Hugo and Fuel for Life. Calone in its pure form exudes a fresh, somewhat green, ozonic smell with characteristic oyster and watermelon nuances. Notably, its inclusion at 0.8% in Calvin Klein’s Escape in 1991 ushered in a new trend for fresh aquatic scents. This led to the creation of hundreds of perfumes where Calone was the leading note, enhancing various facets, especially its fresh metallic hues.
