The general procedure for parametric modeling is to create a 2D sketch profile using variables, apply constraints, use the profile to create a 3D element and then modify it by applying variable-driven features to get the desired design. When a component is completed, it can be placed as a Parametric Cell. This captures the design logic, and provides for reuse of a parametrically-driven component. Parametric tools give you a degree of flexibility which is not possible with conventional 3D tools. 3D Scanning and Reverse Engineering another batch of specialist 35mm camera film manufacturing equipment. The customer has no CAD or drawings for their production like equipment. BMS were commissioned to reverse engineer into 3D CAD and 2D working drawings ready for remanufacture. How it works; the 3D scan produces cloud point data, we then mesh the cloud point data to produce an stl file, we then convert the stl file into a clean parametric 3D CAD model (usually design intent, meaning near round is round). For every CAD model we produce we also issue, a scan to CAD quality report; showing % deviation; a colour chart provides an easy to read visual representation providing confidence in our process.
