In addition to recognizing our Digitze the Planet standard for the distribution of conservation information, the agency will also add over 300 protected areas to our database in the near future. We hope that other authorities will join our project in the future. #digitization #natureconservation #natureprotection

"The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?" - Sir David Attenborough We certainly are not. Today is World Elephant Day. These majestic giants face critical threats, with populations suffering sharp declines. Big threats demand big responses. That's why we've partnered with Diergaarde Blijdorp - Rotterdam Zoo, Rotterdam's conservation icon, to shape a sustainable future where humans and wildlife thrive in harmony. Together, we're working to strengthen our connection to the natural world and secure a future where next generations will always be able to see an elephant up close. How cool is this............... You can now live stream a family of Greater Gliders thanks to the wonderful folks at WWF-Australia. You can watch the live stream on the link below, the gliders are most active around sunset (they are currently snoozing). Greater Gliders just won the Marsupial of the Year competition - they are adorable, awesome (they can glide for 100 meters) and endangered because their forest habitat is being bulldozed. We need to save these incredible animals. Thats why we need the federal government to fix Australia's broken nature laws, now. The law reform bills are stuck in the Senate because the Prime Minister is refusing to negotiate with the cross-bench, despite the x-bench's willingness to compromise. We need the PM to step up to save the Greater Glider and the other 2220 species threatened with extinction. Tanya Plibersek Dermot O'Gorman Australian Conservation Foundation https://lnkd.in/gk7Tz7Gb

One of the best keynotes on the critical future of working lands and conservation. Lesli Allison I highly reccomend you listen to this. https://lnkd.in/g2pw3Vjk Old Salt Festival was profound for the caliber of minds that came together to share in case studies, collaborations happening between rancher and conservation organizations, stories of mindset shifts in producers and gov agencies, chefs and investors walking the walks. What Western Landowners Alliance is doing to build bridges is critical.

Douglas W. Tallamy’s first book, Bringing Nature Home, awakened thousands of readers to an urgent situation: wildlife populations are in decline because the native plants they depend on are fast disappearing. His solution? Plant more natives. In this new book, Tallamy takes the next step and outlines his vision for a grassroots approach to conservation. Nature’s Best Hope shows how homeowners everywhere can turn their yards into conservation corridors that provide wildlife habitats. ???? https://lnkd.in/gGgqAvVM

How do different ways of knowing affect how we frame wildlife health and conservation problems and thus how we conceive solutions? This question is driving some early and invigorating dialogue between the McEachran Institute and the Philosophy Department at the University of Guelph. We are starting by spending time thinking about this question before we launch into how to address it. The goal is to find ways to better promote collaborative actions.
