Increasing your Job Search and Recruiting IQ: Celebrating Labor Day: Honoring the Backbone of Our Nation. Labor Day isn’t just a day off—it’s a celebration of the hard work, dedication, and perseverance that built this country. From the factory floors to the classrooms, from the hospitals to the high-tech hubs, it’s the American workforce that keeps the wheels turning. You are the unsung heroes who get the job done, day in and day out. And today, we salute you. This day is about more than just recognizing the work you do—it’s about honoring the spirit of grit and determination that defines the American worker. Whether you’re clocking in for a 12-hour shift, managing a team, or running your own business, your work matters. It’s what powers our economy, supports our families, and strengthens our communities. ??? Let’s take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day. It’s a reminder that our success as a nation is built on the shoulders of those who work tirelessly to make things better. Every job, big or small, contributes to the greater good. And as we enjoy this well-deserved break, let’s also remember the importance of balancing hard work with taking care of ourselves and our loved ones. ?? As we honor Labor Day, I’m reminded of the words of Martin Luther King Jr.: “All labor that uplifts humanity and has dignity and importance should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.” #LaborDay #workforce #hardwork #MLK #linkedIn

On May Day, I want to highlight the recent work of my colleagues Eric Apaydin, PhD and Margaret W., both researchers at the RAND Epstein Family Veterans Policy Research Institute. Focusing on working conditions, Eric and Margaret found “younger veterans appear more likely to hold jobs in occupation groups that involve greater physical and psychosocial hazards, and they are less likely to hold jobs that offer autonomy and creativity, compared with their nonveteran counterparts.” This essay is part of our Veterans Issues in Focus series. I found this video to be pretty informative and overall interesting. It’s a little long and I do think it overlooks some complexities to the economics it states when speaking of stagflation and inflation. With all that being said, I have a lot of CEOs and Operations leads on here. The Army as a whole may not be ready to tackle some of these issues but my friends in the civilian sector, you all can be. For my connections that are leaders in the Guard/Reserves full-time. I think we can do better and meet our FTE requirements with more flexibility. The child care issue is a rising one, and work-from-home is a growing desire. https://lnkd.in/emgBuEHN

We're wishing all of our clients and community a happy Labor Day! At Range Culture Co. we believe the people doing the work are the most important part of the work. Today we appreciate the many hands that make our community possible. Thank you for all you do! If you don't know the history of Labor Day in the United States, we recommend reading about it here: https://lnkd.in/dK9ejFj The DOL's History of Labor Day page is a great reminder of all the hard work and sacrifice that went in to creating the traditions we honor today.

No clever earworms today. I hope the Labor Day weekend was good for you and yours. Riffing off this subject, take a moment to ask yourself: Does your organization have a business continuity plan (e.g., loss of power at the office)? What are our procedures if one of our employees is under threat in the workplace (e.g., disgruntled spouse, belligerent customer)? On Thursday I finished an online course entitled "Security Awareness Fundamentals" which includes such questions as above. Imagine the?déjà vu I experienced when someone close to me found themselves under physical threat at their (retail) place of employment. No harm came to this person, but what I thought was notable is both the manager on duty as well has as security personnel on premise were at a loss regarding what their company's standard operating procedure was. Know your SOPs, folks. Someone being under physical threat is no time for on-the-job learning. We now return you to the rest of 2024 with 17 weeks left to get all those things you promised your boss(es) you would get done.
As we enjoy this long weekend, let's take a moment to honor the hard work and dedication of workers across the nation. Whether you're spending the day relaxing with family and friends or reflecting on the achievements of the labor movement, remember that every job contributes to the strength and prosperity of our communities. Happy Labor Day! ????
