?? Received a wave of graduation party invites lately and it got me thinking about the bright minds stepping into the next chapter. For those unsure about their path, here are some career avenues worth exploring from my point of view: 1. Soil Consultant: Dive into environmental science and make a tangible impact. VERY large shortage of personnel here in Indiana in this field. 2. Surveyors: Combine tech and outdoor work in this field, crucial for urban planning, construction, and mapping. 3. HVAC Technicians: With a growing demand for climate control systems, this profession offers stability and hands-on work. 4. Electricians: Power up your career with skills in electrical systems, essential for homes, businesses, and infrastructure. 5. Small Business Ownership: Consider buying/taking over a turnkey business from retiring Gen Xers. It's hard work, but with dedication, it can be incredibly rewarding. & you’d be surprised at how many would consider seller financing ?? Each path offers unique opportunities for growth and success. Let's empower the next generation with options to pave their own way to a fulfilling career. ????

My role with United Safety is the Design/Applications engineer of our fire suppression product lines. How long have you been with United Safety? I have been with the company for about 1 year & 6 months. How has your career grown with the company? I started with United Safety a couple months after graduating from Pennsylvania College of Technology. After about 8 months as a CAD tech, a position opened up for a Fire Suppression Design Engineer. I took the opportunity to apply right away and thankfully acquired the position. Working for United Safety has allowed me to see the world and pick up an abundance of experience. What does United Safety’s culture mean to you? United Safety's culture means working in an environment where the people are a reminder of why I come in every day. I feel very connected to my coworkers which makes collaboration seamless and creates an environment where I feel valued. Why do you love working for United Safety? I love working at United Safety because of the people I work with and the product line I am a part of. My coworkers help me balance the sizable workload that comes with the fire suppression department and always have a fun uplifting attitude. What are three words that describe United Safety? Culture, the culture at United Safety is the core of the company. Challenges, there is always a new, healthy challenge to keep the job interesting and thought provoking. Collaborative, the environment at United Safety promotes working well with others. What is your proudest moment at United Safety? My proudest moment at United Safety was when I was promoted to fire suppression engineer. Ever since I was hired as a CAD technician, I had been gunning for an engineering position. Nothing beats the feeling when you accomplish a sought after goal. What do you like most about your job? My favorite part of my position is traveling to complete field engineering tasks. Working in the field and using my hands to design and install is a huge reason I went to school to become an engineer in the first place. #StaySafe #StayUnited #UnitedSafety

So, I know we have a lot of influencers in #aviation like Erika Armstrong Shaesta Waiz talking about becoming a #pilot. But what about the rest of the #careers. This article shows how young people are ellevating #bluecollar careers using #socialmedia and teaching young women about careers in male-dominating fields. It's not surprising videos like this are popular given the popularity of Dirty Jobs and This Old House. #aviation and #aerospace are always complaining how tough it is to interest youngsters in our careers. I'm sure they have videos talking about pilots and #aviationmaintenancetechnicians. But what about #flightdispatch #airtrafficcontrol, #manufacturing? I get that manufacturing may be tough owing to #security but we see #plumbing #welding #electricians in this article -- all of which are needed in our industry. "On TikTok, the hashtag?#bluecollar drew 500k posts in the first four months of this year, up 64% over the same period in 2023. Posts hashtagged #electrician increased 77% over the same time, with #constructionworker and #mechanic posting similar jumps, TikTok says. "Many posts tout the wages blue-collar workers can make. Pay for new hires in construction now outstrips pay for new hires in professional services like accounting, according to ADP data. Skilled-trade influencers say they’re also trying to combat decades of stereotypes in which practitioners were seen as grease monkeys or stuck in low-end careers. “We’ve made it more appealing. We have nice vehicles. We own homes, we are successful,” says?Matt Panella, 27, a carpenter who drives a Tesla “Kids aren’t going to job sites saying, hey, man, can you hire me? They’re getting to know it on social media, giving them the idea that this is a legit possibility,” says the elder Coffman. https://lnkd.in/eStPASCC
