This month's Project Review covers Portal to Bitcoin, a custodyless cross-chain infrastructure that facilitates native Bitcoin Inc. swaps. Portal's infrastructure for Bitcoin mitigates the security risks associated with traditional solutions, such as CEXs, bridges, and multi-sig custody. Some #Bitcoin exchanges were shut down by authorities over the past week; These shutdowns were possible because the keys of the exchanges were centralized in hardware wallets, key management computers, phones, etc... These key management structures are different than the key management structure of United States Bitcoin Fund; The key management structure of United States Bitcoin Fund is detailed as follows; Each bit (of the 256 bits of key) is memorized with an ordering number by a cryptographer (256 cryptographers total because 256 bits of key total). In order for funds to move, the cryptographers each move the information that they have (a bit and an ordering number) to a team of #Bitcoin custodians who manage the input of the bits into a computer; This means that United States Bitcoin Fund is much more secure than the exchanges that were shut down.

The future is not on-chain. It is most certainly off-chain. Almost all of Ethereum's activity takes place on L2s connected to the L1 using ZK - not the L1 itself. The same will be true of Bitcoin in its new era of programmability.
