Happy Diwali ?? Simple Thoughts on freedom ? ? ? My family and I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Happy Diwali.?May the festival of lights bring you joy, prosperity and freedom that we all deserve. On this festive occasion, would also like to take the liberty of sharing a few thoughts and ideas on achieving true freedom for ourselves and our loved ones. "Freedom is the the open window through which pours the sunlight of the human spirit and dignity" Here is what i have learnt about achieving and freedom in few of the most important aspects of our lives. After a long struggle, finally I manage to get my priorities right. Health, love and work, in that order. Health Yoga has been a great been a saviour.?Yoga means "union" - union of mind, body, soul and nature/creator/higher power whatever you call it. Most of the folks relate Yoga to complicated asanas (postures). But it is not like that. It is a way of living. Love As great Víctor Frankl wrote in "Man's search for meaning", people find meaning and purpose of their life in people they love, the work they do or the bigger cause they believe in. Meaningful work and meaningful relations is what makes life worth living. Work? “We made a lot of money but what we really wanted was independence. What’s really great is if you can do what you want to do in life and associate with who you want to associate in life, and we’ve both had that spirit all the way through." "Open markets" (mostly) and "internet democracy" helps us to pursue the business interests we want to pursue and the skills we want to learn while making a good living. I feel blessed that I can learn from the likes of Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Jack Bogle, Peter Lynch, Steve Jobs, Benjamin Graham, Howard Marks, Ray Dalio, Stephen Schwarzman, Benjamin Franklin, Jeff Bezos, and everyone else who has done great work in their respective fields. Lately have been able to appreciate power of leverage .Your capital, tech, media and people should help you realize the impact you wish to have. You can invest (capital) in amazing companies (public or private), software (tech) is eating the world (as highlighted by A16Z) and can help you do amazing things, media (paid as well as earned) can help you reach a wider audience like a yoga guru or smart politicians and people smarter than you can create the magic for you though power of collaboration, partnerships, thoughts and idea sharing and what not. We are really spoilt for choice here. Won't these all amazing things help you achieve true freedom/independence if that is what you wish to have? May the festival of lights enlighten our lives with abundant health, love, wealth, wisdom and most importantly true freedom and independence! #happydiwali #freedom #independence #love #work #health

Dear #connections Diwali holidays are over and we already have tightened our belts to embrace the new beginning filled with so much hopes, challenges, achievements awaiting next door. Sounds Exciting ?? Isn't it? Indeed it is!! So I got good kick start to begin with and all thanks to "Happiness Program" by the incredible Art of Living organization, and it has been an enlightening and transformative journey. ?? One of the most powerful tools I learned during the program was Sudarshan Kriya, a powerful breathing technique that helps to clear the mind, energize the body, and bring peace and focus to daily life. ????? Through this program, I have not only gained a deeper understanding of mindfulness, stress management, and emotional balance, but I have also been introduced to techniques that enhance clarity, boost productivity, and increase overall well-being. These practices have already made a profound impact on my life, and I can’t wait to continue this journey of personal growth and contribute to a happier world. ???? I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to bring more joy, peace, and balance into their life. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is a significant festival in India and is celebrated with much enthusiasm and joy. A key tradition during Diwali is the thorough cleaning of homes. This act is symbolic as well as practical, representing a fresh start, warding off negativity, and welcoming the goddess Lakshmi, the symbol of wealth and prosperity, into a clean and inviting home. The correlation you're pointing out is between the physical act of cleaning for Diwali and the metaphorical act of cleaning our minds. Here’s how they relate: 1. **Physical Cleaning:** - During Diwali, people engage in extensive cleaning of their homes. This might involve decluttering, dusting, and even partaking in small renovations. The aim is to have an organized and pristine environment that attracts positive energy and signifies readiness for new beginnings. 2. **Mind Cleaning:** - Just as homes need regular cleaning, our minds require occasional cleansing too. This involves letting go of negative thoughts, clearing mental clutter, and focusing on positivity and growth. 3. **Symbolism and Tradition:** - Cleaning for Diwali can be seen as a metaphor for self-reflection and purification. It’s not just about physical cleanliness but also about mental and spiritual renewal. - The most difficult aspect of this process is often the internal cleanse—the act of letting go of past grievances, stress, and negativity, which can deeply root in our minds. 4. **Challenges of Mind Cleaning:** - Unlike dusting a shelf, cleaning the mind can be challenging as it involves introspection, self-awareness, and actively working to change thought patterns. This can be a complex task that requires time, patience, and often, guidance or support through practices like meditation or therapy. 5. **Outcome:** - Just like the satisfaction of a clean and organized home, a clear mind can lead to enhanced mental health, peace, and a positive outlook. In essence, the tradition of cleaning during Diwali can serve as an excellent reminder and opportunity to also engage in the challenging yet rewarding task of cleaning our minds and spirits. This holistic approach to cleansing can significantly enhance the quality of life, promoting happiness and mental well-being alongside physical tidiness.

Festivals are about happiness. Just happiness. We spend the entire year chasing our goals - prioritising career, even prioritising health, the wellbeing of everyone around us. But festivals are your breaks from that routine. Your cheat-days. It's about prioritising things that just make us feel good. Things that pump up that elusive serotonin - the happiness hormone. And that's why Deepawali is about that warm-fuzzy feeling. Of being able to get back home, even when your office tries to convince you that festivals are best spent with colleagues. Of being able to see your parents, touch their feet, hug them tight. Not everyone has that privilege. It's about switching on all the lights on a dark amawasya night - both literally and metaphorically. We light up dias like our elders did, maybe a few firecrackers, a couple of Kaju Katli bites, a game of cards, a few drinks filled with laughter for those who want. Diwali is indulgence. Just one day of not watching your back. Of being able relive your childhood. Of being able to love your dear ones. Happy Diwali! ????

Coming back from the Diwali vacation, I’ve been thinking about the balance between feeling empty and being productive. During the break, I had some quiet moments that really helped me clear my mind. It reminded me that being busy doesn’t always mean we’re being productive. Sometimes, taking a step back allows us to find new ideas and focus on what really matters. As we jump back into work, let’s embrace those moments of stillness. They can spark our creativity and help us recharge. Here’s to finding that balance! ? #Mindfulness #Productivity #PostDiwali #Office #Work

At the outset I would like to wish you all Happy Diwali. It is really great to learn about healthy lifestyle followed by professionals from varied backgrounds. As a practitioner of overall "wellbeing" with curious mind, here are my top five:- 1. Moving my body by following long walks in natural settings by the water bodies, walking barefoot on grass and running few days a week as weather permits. My goal is to exercise 5 days a week, during summer here, swimming is something I enjoy for its consistency and during winter Squash for its pace. At Basware we have steady fitness challenges and great colleagues besides the club members who are at my residential area. Practical tip here is to surround yourself with those who inspire you with their actions, also “walk and talk” meetings are great fun. 2. Reading non-fiction is my passion, be it current affairs, technology trends, defense matters etc. my goal is to avoid screen time later part of the day and switch over to reading books. Yes I have managed to get few author endorsed books in my collection too. Practical tip is reading does to your mind what exercise does to your body, it is never late to get started even going through editorial in newspaper is perfect outcome. 3. Besides the travel time and schedules in different time zones (only time I track my sleep with devices to ensure proper rest) I practice “beauty sleep”, way of tricking my brain to put this as utmost priority. My motivation is to get up on time to enjoy morning time before it is taken over by humdrum of the day and yes I love observing/clicking sunrise and natural surroundings. Practical tip is to follow regimen to ensure we get 6-8 hours of snooze and wake up at same time without alarm is nirvana. 4. During my work from home schedule, I just love making tea for my Mom and Spouse (well we have a saying at our home we just love our tea in our own way) and during the weekend cooking for my family or close friends (yes those are from my school time and being fortunate to be in tricity is a plus) is something I immensely cherish. Practical tip is spending quality time with your closest relations is the essence of life. 5. To the final one during the weekends or early mornings I would love to spend time in my kitchen garden as we grow seasonal vegetables and herbs. The process is so powerful, natural, and calming as you learn a lot while working with your hands in contact with soil. Practical tip is you can start with something different to stimulate you and it is very liberating. Taking annual vacation with family and once in a while solo is a great experience as well, picture here is rising sun clicked in portrait mode from somewhere in Himalayas. Thank you so much for reading this and as always, really keen to learn your thoughts as well inputs. #greatplacetowork #wearebold #skplearnings #HealthyHabitHeroes #Wellbeing #NowItAllJustHappens

As high performers, many of us face periods of overwhelming demands. Recently, I returned from a challenging trip that not only affected my health but also coincided with a painful menstrual cycle. During that week, I was tasked with closing a creative project, managing corporate responsibilities, and diving into a new opportunity in screenwriting. To top it off, I missed family celebrations during Diwali, including temple visits and festive dinners. Feeling like the one always missing out can be disheartening. However, this experience taught me a valuable lesson about the importance of intentionality in both work and leisure. Key Insights: ??Plan for Leisure as You Do for Work: When juggling multiple priorities, it’s essential to schedule downtime. For me, leisure means travel and meaningful conversations. By planning these experiences in advance, I ensure I’m not just reacting to life but actively shaping it. ??Reframe Your Perspective: Missing out on social events doesn’t mean you’re failing. Instead, focus on how your choices contribute to your overall well-being and growth. By prioritizing your own needs, you can actually enhance the happiness of those around you. ??Let Go of Guilt: It’s easy to feel guilty for not being present for others. However, pursuing your passions and taking control of your life allows you to bring more positivity into your relationships. Remember, you can’t pour from an empty cup. ??Embrace Intentionality: This Diwali, I reflected on how important it is to celebrate not just the festivals but also the intentional choices we make in our lives. Balancing ambition with well-being is crucial for sustainable success. In a world that often demands more than we can give, let’s commit to being intentional in our choices—both in our careers and our personal lives.

Happy Diwali to everyone ?????? What specific actions would you take based on your reflections? I choose this?? ??Believe in Yourself ??????????????????????????? Acknowledge That You are Worthy You are worthy of: - Love and respect - Happiness and fulfillment - Success and achievement - Forgiveness and more chances - Personal growth and self-improvement Accept That life is happening for you You can choose the way you want to spend your life, ??Your worth isn't defined by external validation. ??You are enough, regardless of flaws. ??Self-love and self-acceptance are non negotiable & the most essential part of our existence. ??Your uniqueness makes you valuable. ??You deserve to live a fulfilling life. Decide Your Actions Carefully Repeat It & Act acoidingly: "I am worthy of love, care, and respect – from myself and others." "I trust myself and my abilities." "I release self-doubt and negativity." "I choose self-love and self-acceptance." "I am deserving of happiness and success." If you can remember self care & self compassion…everytime when life turn things upside down & you lose sight of the things in the usual perspectives, there’s nothing, that can stop you from reaching to your highest potential. ?? Will you hold yourself accountable for your own well being & holistic growth OR something/someone externally? #mindfulness #resilience #mentalhealth

Happy Diwali is NOT EQUAL TO Shubh Deepawali. While "Happy Diwali" and "Shubh Deepawali" are often used interchangeably to convey festive greetings, there is a subtle nuance in their meanings. "Shubh Deepawali" goes beyond mere happiness; it encapsulates the essence of auspiciousness and the positive, divine energy associated with the festival. The term "???" (Shubh) translates to "auspicious" in English, emphasizing the importance of positivity and good fortune. Diwali, being a festival symbolizing the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance, embodies the concept of auspiciousness at its core. Therefore, when we wish someone "Shubh Deepawali," we are not just expressing a desire for their happiness but also invoking blessings of auspiciousness, prosperity, and spiritual well-being. In essence, being auspicious transcends mere happiness, as it encompasses a state of positive alignment with cosmic energies and divine blessings. It implies engaging in actions and thoughts that contribute to the greater good, fostering a sense of harmony and positivity not only in individual lives but also in the community at large. Happiness, then, becomes a natural by-product of this auspicious state, reinforcing the idea that true joy arises when one is in sync with the higher order of things. So, when we extend the greeting of "Shubh Deepawali," we are not just wishing for fleeting happiness but invoking the profound auspiciousness that the festival represents, fostering a holistic sense of well-being and positivity in the lives of those we greet.
