According to the recent AI Startup Landscape Analysis 2024 published by appliedAI Institute for Europe gGmbH, 11 out of the 27 most promising AI startups in Germany are based in Bavaria! With over 40%, Bavaria leads all German states in terms of promising AI startups, as assessed by a panel of industry experts and investors. Bavaria also holds the second largest share of AI startups in Germany, only surpassed by Berlin. This year has seen impressive growth with a 35% increase, reaching 687 AI startups and securing the highest funding inflow ever recorded at approximately 1.1 billion Euro. Notably, 95% of the startups focus on B2B. "Pre-IPO Startups Face a New Hurdle—Getting Their AI Story Right" Getting their "AI story" right is now required for software startups. That requires time and business adjustment. “We are learning as we go,” said Tiago Paiva, chief executive and founder of Talkdesk who has been leading his company as it adjusts to this new world. Talkdesk, which was valued at $10 billion in a private financing round in 2021, is developing software for customer-service centers. Once Talkdesk began embedding generative AI features in its software, from customer-call summaries to autonomous AI agents that respond to customer queries, it also had to adjust its pricing strategy, for example. The new AI-driven deals are larger, but revenue became less predictable than in the prior scheme, he said. “We’ve changed prices several times over the past 12 to 18 months,” Paiva said. https://lnkd.in/eE3x2TG9

A headhunter once told me that it is not uncommon for a startup to go through 5 different CEO's before the company either IPOs or exits to an industrial player. Five! That's just incredible. I don't know if I necessarily agree, but I do think that one of the key drivers for success is understanding what you're good at and where you need help, and that those assessments might very well change, as you move through the growth stages of your startup. Knowing when to let go and invite others to help you take the next step is a rockstar skill. #startup #founder #leadership
