I read 10 different articles on nonprofit trends... so you don’t have to. My biggest takeaways? ?? -AI could be a game-changer for development professionals who have no time to write grants, create donor lists, make calls, or plan cultivation events. -Collaboration is key. Whether through traditional partnerships or a more legally-binding integration, organizations are working together to achieve deeper mission impact. And lastly, my favorite trend - the rise in community work as a direct response to the political atmosphere. People trust the government less and thus are reacting by putting their energy and resources into local organizations driving change in their own communities. What trends are you seeing? GAUGING INTEREST: I’m putting an idea out there to see if there is interest in the community. For several years I’ve been concerned over how polarized and toxically divided our culture has become. I think many of you feel the same way. I believe the only way to overcome this is to connect with each other and actually dialogue respectfully across our lines of disagreement. We are now 5 months out from what will almost certainly be a very divisive election; yet we are going to all have to live together regardless of the outcome. What I’m proposing is a structured time of respectful dialogue where viewpoints are shared in a safe environment. The goal will not be to change minds, but to understand one another. I’m volunteering to moderate such a series of discussions. I lean red/conservative, though I’m registered as an Independent. If someone, preferably female, who leans blue/progressive would like to co-moderate with me, that would be great. Let me know in the comments if that would interest you. In my view, perhaps the biggest problem is that we often tend to see those who disagree with us as na?ve, misinformed, unintelligent, or even evil. In my hours of dialoguing across lines of disagreement, I am convinced that on most any issue, both sides have legit concerns. We may not be able to come to an agreement, but we can at least understand each other better, and hopefully view one another with less suspicion and disdain. If you would be willing to be part of such a community-building event in Loveland, please say so in then comments below. If you would like to get a better idea of what I have in mind, visit the braverangels.org website. While I don’t know that this would be an official Braver Angels event, I’ve been a member for a few years and would like to draw from their successful model for our local gathering. All questions and input welcome below!

Business Strategy coach for Non profits | Accredited Business Strategist |12 years+ charity sector exp | Goal setting | Business Story | Founder | Mission, Vision, Values
Networking can be monotonous. Let's be real. But Nonprofits don't tend to do enough of it. In person energy is unmatched, so getting intentional about your purpose for being at the event is crucial. If it's simply to get away from your desk, I hope you're pleasantly surprised by the richness of conversations others will have with you. If it's to build potential relationships and partnerships, then listen more and talk less. This is a whole skill in itself. It's easy to be drawn to those who look like yourself. But look out for those special things that also make us different as well. That may be where X marks the spot. Ps, this is Carmen Gowie. We looked similar on the night and that waa our xommon ground converaation starter. We connected at an event and getting to know her story and journey is inspiring. Her fight for and with community spirit is strong. If at times you tire from serving your community as a leader in your nonprofit org, get out and meet others in the sector doing great things. It can help you get out of that plateau and shake things up.

We often hear at High Point Discovered, "I didn't know you all were a nonprofit!" Oftentimes, folks experience our content and assume we can do what we do thanks to savvy ad sales or hefty feature entry fees. But from the very inception, our founder, Christi Barbour, was ADAMANT that this model of community storytelling would be no-pay-to-play. Our mission -- to communicate the stories of our community to connect citizens and catalyze economic growth -- only works when we tell the stories of EVERY outstanding business, nonprofit, educator, student, and artist in our city... not just the ones with significant marketing budgets. In fact, that's WHY we see our work as so crucial. Recent studies by Forbes have shown that 54% of small businesses cite marketing as a challenge for growing their business (with finding new customers as the top challenge at 60%). Yet of the surveyed businesses and nonprofits High Point Discovered has featured, 100% of those organizations saw an increase in inquiries, and 54% reported a <10% increase in sales. What we do works. High Point is my hometown, the place that has made me just as much as the people in my life. I truly believe High Point Discovered is part of the transformation taking place in this city -- from economic growth, downtown revitalization, sustainable attractions, increased tourism opportunities, equitable maker spaces, environmental action, increased opportunity for innovation in business, and more. But we need the support of other believers in our work (and in High Point!) to continue doing this. As part of our Giving Discovered campaign, we are asking our community to consider donating to help us reach our goal of $5,000. It's bold, but that's only fitting for a city growing with such boldness as High Point. Will you join us? Will you help us tell the stories that transform a city? Give back: https://lnkd.in/eNiHj8aN Learn more about what we do: https://lnkd.in/e5maNJTQ

Running conferences and events is stressful! That's why people look at me in horror when I tell them this is what I do for a living. But this is why I do it... I was an only child raised by a single parent. Sometimes it was a bit lonely and this is exactly why I love organising conferences. I get to connect with amazing people everyday and be in the midst of the magic of these amazing communities Eventribe serves. That's my why. What's your why? #SimonSinek #StartWithWhy #Communities #Conferences

The most effective, influential nonprofits are those that share the power to shape their strategies and approaches with their stakeholders, especially their beneficiaries. They’re also the organizations that recognize that sharing power doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing pursuit. It can be practiced on a progressive spectrum, which we call the Shared Power Spectrum. Learn more about it in this week's post. https://lnkd.in/ed9Ah_cH
