A productive day for the Water Authority at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California board meeting! Board Chair Nick Serrano and Board Chair Emeritus Mel Katz, who will be representing the Water Authority on the Met board moving forward, addressed the directors in Los Angeles. Chair Serrano once again emphasized affordability, collaboration and pursuing a settlement agreement as the focus of his chairmanship. Katz replaces Director Tim Smith, who is retiring from the Board and to whom the Water Authority owes a debt of gratitude to for his years of service to the region. Finally Water Authority Director Lois Fong-Sakai was elected to a second term as Met Board Secretary, further strengthening the ties between Met and SDCWA. All together these actions represent the continuation of a new era of partnership and progress between Met and SDCWA.
