Here’s an angle that's rarely discussed...the damage senior women do to more junior women’s careers because of the competition for limited promotional opportunities. There is academic research on this but it's real enough.

Yes, lack of mentorship, culture and even motherhood. The truth hurts, and hard to admit in 2018, but this is the life of women in finances that all should see and recognize discrimination
Is this surprising to anyone? If we are not the target of the bias, we are somewhat blind to it. If we are not impacted, we may not realize the scope of the problem. If you are managing people, and have access to the information, don’t turn a blind eye. As we are often reminded, “if you see something, say something” (or DO something)!
Unfortunately, not limited to financial services only...

I quit a job in finance because they told me I would never be promoted.
This is seen across society. People of color see police brutality everyone else doesn't see i. The aged see ageism everyone else doesn't see. It is the situation where those least impacted don't see the problem or issue.

6 年I feel the gaps are there but are slowly closing in. Time has always been an issue where change is slow but hopefully this will change.
