Erin Rice and Alene Helmer from WI's Department of Workforce Development's Office of Veteran Employment Services, attended the Wisconsin State Council SHRM conference. They represented the Veteran Employment Office as a vendor, creating networking opportunities with HR professionals, building pipelines, advising on best practices, and discussing strategies for veteran hiring. They provided whiteboard sessions with employers around the biggest hiring challenges they were facing. Problem-solved with employers, highlighting the skills and experience, and even work place incentives, veterans can bring to the workforce, and explored partnerships to improve job placement for veterans. These connections are vital in expanding employment opportunities and increasing awareness of veteran talent across all industries.
