The former president of the United States and current GQP candidate for president of the United States stood on stage and told a lie tonight so insidious and aimed at dehumanizing his opponents. The lie was that babies are being born in this country and are being executed (his words) after birth at the discretion of the parents and doctors. All wannabe dictators have always used inflammatory language to drum up votes but he’s not trying to pick up votes he’s trying to dehumanize his opponents. When you dehumanize your fellow countrymen with such inflammatory nonsense like this it makes political violence a very real threat. The rhetoric Mr. Trump uses is almost straight from the white evangelical Christians playbook which they copied from Nazi’s. At this point the only difference between Trump and Hitler is that Hitler at least tailored his suits. There use to be a time (not long ago) when comparing anything to Nazi’s was mocked in the realm of politics because the Nazi’s ultimately became so unhinged they damn near destroyed the world over a bunch of imaginary grievances. Nazi’s didn’t start out by murderering 6 million Jews—that’s just where they ended up. If America re-elects Donald Trump to the highest office in the land I have little doubt that Mr. Trump will set us on our very own road of perdition fueled by hatred and bigotry. What does that look like? Who the fuck knows man. If My Pillow Guy is be-heading libtards in the National Mall it won’t shock me at this point. Mr. Trump is playing a very dangerous game (he knows exactly what he’s doing) and ultimately I think it fails but CISA better start pulling all-nighters because he intends to win by any means necessary.

My column for THE MORNING STAR, written back in February: The second US civil war? And if Trump returns to the White House, what are the chances of a second civil war in the US? I’m surprised democracy-supporting civilian leaders, government officials and senior army officers aren’t already making plans to resist a second Trump presidency, if incarnated this time as a full-blown dictatorship. If they’re not, maybe they should be — as Lee Child’s Jack Reacher memorably said: “Hope for the best, plan for the worst.” A warning from history exists in the tragic impotence of the German widerstand (resistance) group led by former mayor of Leipzig Carl Friedrich Goerdeler (1884-1945) who left it far too late to take action against Hitler’s Nazi regime. Inherit the wind At his age, Trump’s regime (if he is installed and is unopposed) is likely to be fairly short; his colossal vanity and fear of mortality will very probably preclude him from nominating a successor. Any VP choice will be so weak as not to be a credible alternative or heir to whatever’s left of the US after Trump finishes with it. So, after the hellscape of his unbound rule, prepare for a war of the Trumpian Diadochi, where his leading goons vie against each other, factions led by the likes of unhinged general Michael Flynn, slow-witted would-be Jefe Don Jr, sleazy Florida congressman Matt Gaetz, performatively cruel Texas governor Gregg Abbott, South Dakota’s Falangist Kristi Noem, and the unkempt propagandist Steve Bannon. "What Spartacus is for those fighting against oppression, Brutus for the principled opponents of dictatorship, Che Guevara for the anti-Capitalist struggle or Martin Luther King for civil rights, Trump will be for his MAGA movement and those aligned to it, i.e. their hero. (This is not to suggest an equivalence between any of these characters, but just to point out similarities in status as symbols.) The gladiator fighting the Romans, the patrician wielding the knife of “liberty,” the Communist whose face is a favourite on teens’ T-shirts, MLK giving his I have a dream speech – these are iconic images that concentrate and perpetuate the essence of an idea. The “Fight!” picture from Saturday is in the same category." "The legend around Trump will only grow, whether we like it or not. A psychological threshold has been crossed, and the movement – in the US, but beyond as well, by way of inspiration – has now been justified by a dramatic event in full view of the whole world." "The second reason why the “revolt” is now unbreakable is because of Trump’s choice of J D Vance as vice-presidential candidate and, effectively, heir to the MAGA throne. There is no way to know at this stage what name DJT had in mind before the events of Saturday, but Vance’s nomination is certainly the best and most logical move Trump could have made in response to his attempted assassination." "Crooks and the people who wanted him to succeed in killing Trump right before the Republican convention knew that this would have thrown the MAGA movement into infighting and complete disarray precisely because it was all held together by Trump himself." "By choosing Vance, (now) the most loyal and hardcore of the top MAGA leaders, Trump has dramatically reduced the incentives for his enemies to give assassination another go." "Again, historical patterns seem to be at work here, with Vance playing Mark Antony to Trump’s Caesar. The US senator, with his (admittedly brief) military background, is as ruthless and combative as Caesar’s foremost lieutenant at Rome, but smarter and more disciplined." https://lnkd.in/ebzgRgDs

The "Curse of Tippecanoe," also known as Tecumseh’s Curse, allegedly affected seven U.S. presidents elected in years ending in zero. Beginning with William Henry Harrison in 1840, each president in this cycle either died in office or faced an assassination attempt. The curse affected: 1. William Henry Harrison (1840) 2. Abraham Lincoln (1860) 3. James A. Garfield (1880) 4. William McKinley(1900) 5. Warren G. Harding (1920) 6. Franklin D. Roosevelt (1940) 7. John F. Kennedy (1960) Ronald Reagan (1980) survived an assassination attempt, seemingly breaking the curse. Here are some historical and paranormal narratives tied to elections: 1. **Lincoln's Ghost:** Abraham Lincoln’s ghost is famously said to haunt the White House, with several presidents and staff reporting sightings around election times. 2. **The Bell Witch & Andrew Jackson:** During Andrew Jackson’s 1824 presidential campaign, he visited the site of the Bell Witch haunting in Tennessee, further cementing the connection between politics and paranormal lore. 3. **Election Coincidences:** There are legends about eerie patterns, such as the "Curse of Tippecanoe," where U.S. presidents elected in years ending in zero supposedly face tragic deaths.

Based on his work, in 1943 the?OSS summarized?the strategy Hitler used — driven in part by his own psychopathy — to both seize and hold power: “His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it.” Sound familiar? Vote Blue to stop Trump. Please.

Considering the events of yesterday, I am compelled to issue the following statement: I would like to express my thoughts and prayers for President Trump in his recovery from yesterday’s assassination attempt. My heart breaks for the innocent victims who sustained severe injuries and one who lost his life protecting his family. I pray that our Lord comforts them and helps with all their needs. Political violence is never acceptable and must be condemned without equivocation. Words are often said in the political arena that are harsh and course. While some may be distasteful or intemperate, that is the reality of politics. What is beyond politics is the demonization of a political opponent to such an extent that he is no longer an opponent but an enemy that needs to be destroyed even at the cost of our republic. This extends to his supporters. The effort to go after an opponent with false stories of treason such as Russian collusion, two impeachments, civil lawsuits funded by opponents and the weaponization of the justice system to spawn four indictments based on novel legal theories is the foundational work to redefine a fellow American as less than human. This ongoing effort and the violent rhetoric from the left is responsible. To be clear, it is not so called “Dog Whistles” or assertions that may have two meanings, but actual calls for violence against the former President, referring to him as Hitler and calling him a threat to democracy. This must end now. As a nation founded on Judeo-Christian values, we must turn to Christ’s directive to love him first by following his second directive to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. That includes our political opponents. Vengeance is unacceptable. Politics is about one’s vision and the power to persuade. Our vision is one of shared success for all Americans which will come with victory at the ballot box. God Bless our Republic, all Americans no matter their political views and President Donald J Trump. Vice Chairman, Nassau County Conservative Party Member, Executive Committee, NYS Conservative Party *Comments are my own and not of my employer.

The Choice Before Us Admiral William H. McRaven's powerful words have issued a clarion call to action, confronting us with a critical moment in our nation's history. The recent conviction of a former President by a New York jury has presented us with a clear choice: - Stand up for our values of integrity, pride, and excellence - Give in to harmful forces of negativity, vulgarity, and petty behavior We've allowed divisiveness, erosion of civil discourse, and celebrity worship to threaten our greatness for too long. Our nation, once a moral leader, now risks mediocrity. Admiral McRaven's warning reminds us that our choices have far-reaching effects. We can either continue down a harmful path of polarization or reclaim our civic discourse, prioritizing substance over spectacle and character over celebrity. Exceptionalism is a choice, requiring our collective commitment to inclusivity, empathy, and truth. As we approach the crucial 2024 elections, we're faced with a clear choice: - Perpetuate toxic politics - Boldly choose a new path, prioritizing character, truth, and unity Our nation's future hangs in the balance, awaiting our decision. Will we rise to the challenge and embrace our potential for greatness, or succumb to the forces of mediocrity? The world awaits our answer. Let's heed Admiral McRaven's warning and choose greatness, lest we succumb to the mediocrity that's been lurking in the shadows, waiting to consume us…

"Men willingly believe what they wish." Gaius Julius Caesar In 49 BC, the Roman world was thrown into a destructive civil war that saw families split and brothers fighting brothers on the battlefield.? ? On one side Julius Caesar sought to seize power and make himself essentially a 'king' over a republic that had rejected monarchy. On the other were a group of senators who sought to preserve it, though their own self interest played a role. Their chief general was Pompey the Great. Events had reached the point where Caesar's choices were to submit to the prosecution of the Senate and have his power broken, or to overthrow the state. The Senators opposed to him faced the choice between the rise of a Tyrant or war to stop him. In the end, only one would survive the war, but ultimately, the republic itself would suffer the most. Of course the parallel with the US today only goes so far. While both undoubtedly have/had massive egos, Donald Trump is clearly no Julius Caesar. Caesar was a skilled general, clearly possessed of high intelligence and eloquence. Moreover he had at his command several battle hardened legions of professional soldiers who were personally loyal to him and very wide support in the general populace. Trump has none of these things. A superficial comparison between Joe Biden and Pompeius Magnus might say both also possess(ed) a surfeit of ego and are/were serving themselves as much as the state. Both also are/were well past their prime at the point when things were reaching a head. But Biden is no Pompey either, he does not command a fraction of the affection or loyalty, or the personal vigour Pompey clearly still enjoyed at the time of the Roman Civil war - though Pompey was only in his 50s. Yet, once again factions within the major power of the day are on a collision course. The highest court of the Republic, controlled by the members of one faction, is ruling in a way that appears partisan to the other, if not the wider populace. Enough of the people are outraged by the behaviour of the opposite faction for the possibility of civil strife to look likely. With respect for the institutions of civil society at a low point, there has to be doubt whether such strife could be constrained to legal exchanges. Much will hinge on what happens next. If Biden refuses to withdraw in favour of a more vigorous candidate, the probability is rising that he will not have the confidence of enough people and will lose the presidential election. A Trump win, with the aftermath he, himself has implied, may not be accepted by large parts of the population. If Trump fails to win, especially by a narrow margin, it is likely he and his supporters will contest the result. It seems they may also have the support of the highest court in the land. In either case, the American people will have a choice. To let matters lie or to pursue what Clauswitz called, 'politics by other means'. Just as in 49 BC... things appear to be coming to a head.

When you've won over General McChrystal, you've won one of the most modern day experienced military minds in our modern day history. It is imperative that we understand the gravity and the fluidity of this existential threat that is now posed to our nation and by an large, our world as we know it. Ladies and Gentlemen, to understand the danger that is imposed if Donald Trump is elected to the White House, chaos, carnage, confusion and conflict which were the ingredients his administration brought us, has secured so many never before seen defections of conservative Reublicans, who has vociferously come out to ring the global alarm of concern. Donald Trump’s interest has never been to serve the American people but himself. With every ethical breach known, Trump has sought to dismantle our relationship with our allies, dilute our already fragile democracy by embracing killers, thugs, dictators and caricatures who are hellbent to see us return to the post-cold war era, where instability and chaos were the order of the day. America ????, my sacrifice and service to you wasn't about me and or my comrades trying to be heroes but it was a sign of our willingness to put our country first before ourselves. We understood our assignment and the mission and we stepped up. Donald Trump isn't running to Make America Great Again but to Make America Hate Again. Let us be clear! Donald Trump isn't interested in leading this nation, he's interested only in covering his ass by seeking to use the sanctity of the office of the President to abscon his 34 felonies and to seek bringing our nation back to our disturbing colorful past. We aren't going back, We're moving forward. We acknowledge that all isn't well at this juncture, with signs of inflation coming down, we know of the pain that has ensued our economy and the toll on average Americans, but we've seen huge signs of a comeback as a result of President Biden and VP Harris Administration actions. We believe that with our laser focus attention on the American people, the measures that are being enacted will bring much reprieve to the challenges we encountered as a result of the COVID-19 era. We believe as US Veterans, and our present military personnel, that a Harris / Walz ticket will bring a stable hand to not only our economy but will get us back to real governance where we will sit and address collectively the ongoing challenges our nation faces. Let's get VP Harris and Tim Walz over the finish line and then we can collectively begin looking at moving forward.

July 4 July 4 is the day we celebrate the noble experiment that has lead to the greatest democracy in the history of the world.??Let’s take our time machine back to Colonial times where a group of educated, successful ideologues decided that they wanted to have a larger say in how they lived were governed and taxed.??Thomas Paine’s best selling?Common Senseargued that an island could not rule a continent.??Many colonial intellectuals believed their right to self-determination was manifest from a higher authority. And given the outcome, perhaps there is more truth to that sentiment than many would like to admit.? “The republican experiment launched so bolding by the revolutionary generation in America encountered entrenched opposition in the two centuries that followed, but it thoroughly vanquished the monarchial dynasties of the nineteenth century and then the totalitarian despotism of the twentieth, just as Jefferson predicted it would,” wrote Joseph J. Ellis in his Pulitzer Prize winning book,?Founding Brothers.??In 2024, the United States is the oldest enduring republic in the history of the world, with a set of political institutions and traditions that have stood the test of time. When we look back on the revolutionary era, it’s hard to imagine how our founding brothers believed that they could defeat the most powerful military in the world.??How could they imagine that creating a republican form of government based on the principle of popular sovereignty could succeed when it had never done so previously for any sustainable period of time or attempted to oversee a land mass as large as the 13 original colonies? Brilliant principled men with a dream met in Philadelphia in June and July 1776 to debate breaking ties with their motherland and declaring independence.??John Adams who was very much the COO of the American Revolution convinced Thomas Jefferson to draft a formal statement that would justify the colonies declaring their independence.??Jefferson was up to the challenge.??On July 2, 1776, the Continental Congress voted affirmatively to become independent.?Two days later, the Congress formerly adopted Jefferson’s Declaration.??For the past 248 years, Americans have celebrated this remarkable event.??As we barbeque, enjoy the summer weather with family and friends and watch fireworks, let’s take a moment to reflect and marvel at the unfathomable accomplishment that results from our founding father’s vision.??We enjoy the great fortunes and opportunities –despite all of our problems –?to live in the greatest republic in the history of mankind.??Enjoy July 4.
