In an interview with the Schleswig-Holsteinischer Zeitungsverlag, newly elected MEP Nela Riehl about her upcoming role in the European Parliament. Nela is not afraid, but in awe: “I value the institutions so much and the European Union is so important to me. […] great joy and the feeling: yes, I want to do this now.” As a mother, she realised during the coronavirus pandemic that parents' views were not represented. There's a lack of representation, that's her big issue. "That doesn't mean that I do everything better, but that I bring a different perspective because I come from normal life and know the everyday lives of normal people”, explains Nela. https://lnkd.in/dD5BMGna ???? In an article for Seznam medium Adam Hanka put together a short timeline to help navigate the process until the EU AI Act will officially enter into force on 2 August 2024. “It is a ground-breaking step in setting the rules for the development and use of artificial intelligence. The rules are designed to ensure that AI benefits as many people and companies as possible, but that we also minimise its unintended impact on AI users and society as a whole. It should also be added that this is a regulation, so it is directly applicable”, says Adam. “The different parts of the Regulation will only come into force gradually, over a period of six months to three years. After 36 months at the latest, i.e. on 2 August 2027, certain rules on the classification of high-risk AI systems (Article 6(1) of the Regulation) will come into force”, Adam explains further. https://lnkd.in/dFUy4WSs ???? In an interview with the Nürnberger Nachrichten, Christian Penninger talked about the good result in Nürnberg, on 7th place with 3,7%. Volt will definitely stand in the 2026 local elections - “the local level is important because we want to engage with local people and problems”, said Christian. https://lnkd.in/dA8ntWJs ???? The result may have surprised even its own members. With 3.3 percent, Volt achieved a remarkable result in the recent European elections in Augsburg, writes the Augsburger Allgemeine. They had hoped for a good result, says Adrian Engel, one of the two chairmen of the Augsburg branch. But the result exceeded expectations. In the coming years, stabilising the party will be the priority, says Matteo Rück. The aim is to get into the Augsburg city council in the 2026 local elections. A European team of researchers led by webLyzard technology aims to replace the guesswork with facts. It has just launched the US Election 2024 Web Monitor, a free visual analytics dashboard to better understand trends and patterns in public stakeholder communication (news and fact-checking services, NGOs, companies, government Websites, etc.). Using the latest #AI-driven Web intelligence and visual analytics technologies, the dashboard sets out to: ?? Reveal opinion leaders, ?? Shed light on events that impact the election coverage,? ?? Assess the role of sustainability issues by mapping the coverage to the United Nation's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and ?? Track and compare stakeholder perceptions. The #US2024 Monitor is part of TRANSMIXR, a research project that builds visual tools for new narrative visions. Together with international media and technology partners, we currently work on two showcases ("Design Your Weapons in the Fight Against Disinformation" and "Evolution of the Control Room") for the Accelerator Media Innovation Program of IBC - International Broadcasting Convention, which expects more than 40,000 participants between 13-16 Sep 2024. ?? In the latest update to our one-stop online resource on global business conditions, the Global PulsePoint, we note that?the divide between the US and the EU continues to widen in different indicators including economic growth and FDI flows. As reflected in the latest edition of the?Global Compass The Road Ahead, both economic blocs had very similar Gross Domestic Product outputs in 2008 during the financial crisis, whereas now the US outpaces the EU by over 9 trillion Euros. ? ???
