The harsh reality of the job market is catching up even with the best of the best. IIT Bombay, one of India's premier institutions, recently concluded its placement season, and the numbers are revealing a troubling trend. Despite being one of the most sought-after engineering colleges, only 75% of its students managed to secure job offers. What’s even more alarming? Some offers were as low as ?4 lakh per annum, a figure almost unimaginable for IIT graduates just a few years ago. What’s going wrong? Industry Demand vs. Curriculum: The skills imparted by these prestigious institutions are not always aligned with the rapidly evolving demands of the industry. Economic Factors: The current tech and economic slowdown has led companies to be more conservative with their hiring, impacting the number of high-paying jobs available. Saturation of Graduates: With over 1.5 million engineering graduates produced every year in India, even top-tier institutes are feeling the heat of market saturation. It’s clear that just having a degree, even from an IIT, is no longer enough. The need for industry-relevant skills and practical experience has never been more crucial. At CCentric, we bridge this gap by offering specialized training that ensures our students are not just employable but are the top choice for employers. If you're looking to future-proof your career, it’s time to invest in practical skills and industry knowledge. How are you preparing yourself for the evolving job market? Let’s discuss in the comments!?? #EngineeringJobs #CareerDevelopment #FutureOfWork #STEMEducation #Industry4_0 #EngineeringStudents #Engineeringplacements

A Reality Check for India’s Top Engineering Talent Shocking data has emerged revealing that 38% of IITians – over 8,000 students across 23 IIT campuses – are still struggling to find job offers this year. The number of unplaced IIT graduates has more than doubled in just two years, increasing from 3,400 in 2022 to 8,000 in 2024. Is this an indicator of the current state of the job market or a gap between the skills and market demand? Are companies scaling back on hiring, or do we need to rethink how we are preparing our brightest minds for the workforce? This is not just a statistic; it’s a wake-up call. We must have a conversation on how we can bridge this gap and ensure that our top talent isn’t left behind. #IIT #JobMarket #EmploymentCrisis #FutureOfWork #SkillDevelopment #EngineeringJobs #HiringTrends #India

It’s disheartening to see that only 10% of India's 1.5 million engineering graduates are expected to secure jobs this year. This statistic is a stark reminder of the current employment crisis many talented individuals face. While academic efforts are essential, it’s become increasingly clear that adaptability, real-world skills, and continual learning are what set you apart in today’s competitive landscape. I urge students to not get discouraged but to leverage every opportunity to upskill, explore non-traditional roles, and think beyond the degrees. The journey doesn’t stop at graduation; it’s just the beginning. #Engineering #CareerGrowth #Skills #JobMarket #Learning #Adaptability

Not all students who sit for placements in IIT Madras get jobs. IIT Madras is the best engineering colleges in India as per GOI NIRF ranking. Approx 700 students are still unplaced in Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and the placement season is almost over Earnest appeal to various stakeholders: To, Parents: Please provide required the "emotional support" to your child who might not be placed yet or might not have received very high package. Please back them up emotionally. To, Alumni: Please provide the career related guidance to the jobseekers, at the very least. Best would be if you could give referrals. Your help will be most appreciated. To, IITs: Please allow the unplaced students to sit in the next placement season. They deserve a second chance. Hopefully hiring scenario will get improve by then. Also, please leverage your 30,000-50,000 alumni base to get some work opportunities for the unplaced students. To, Students: Please try to accept a job offer as getting employed is much more important in a down market than maximising CTC which is done in up market. Improve CV, skills levels, learn to do networking and seek job stability over high CTC initially. First gain experience and visibility in job. Value will come later. Don't chase savings in the first job in a down market. Market changes with time. Down market this year can change into Up market next year. So make "good" decisions as per market cycles. Hon. The report dispels the myth that not all graduates from IITs, India's premier engineering institution, get hefty pay packages. Only a small fraction of them receive large compensation packages; the remainder are accessible for organisations to hire at reasonable pay scales. Gone are the days when students could expect guaranteed placements at prestigious IT companies with high salary packages upon graduating from any of the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). According to a recent report, 8,000 IITians were unable to secure jobs through campus placements this year. The number of unplaced students nearly doubled compared to 2023. Out of 20,000 registered for campus placements, 15,830 secured jobs with an average annual package of 17.1 lakh, while 4,170 remained unplaced. Similarly, in 2022, more than 3,000 out of 17,900 registered students did not secure jobs through IIT campus placements. Singh noted on LinkedIn that the median CTC for that year was 17.2 lakh per annum. #engineering #growth #highereducation #studyabroad #cse #students #itjobs

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campuses across India, long considered the pinnacle of engineering education, are grappling with an unprecedented job placement crisis. Per responses to RTI applications filed by IIT Kanpur alumnus Dheeraj Singh, approximately 7,000 (38 per cent) of students across 23 IITs remained unplaced this year after campus interviews. The IITs are now reaching out to their alumni network for help with referrals and recommendations. Revealing the figures in a post on LinkedIn,?Singh noted that two years ago, this number was about 3,400. He highlighted that while the number of students participating in placements has increased by 1.2 times, the number of unplaced students has more than doubled, now standing at 2.3 times the previous figure. According to a studies, 36% of IIT Bombay undergraduates do not secure employment. The India Employment Report says that 29% of graduates are out of work.? Though the "100% placement" stories from IIT and IIM catch people's attention this time of year, the most recent class of students at IIT Bombay is facing a major setback. There is growing worry about unemployment in India, since 36% of applicants are unable to get postings. A remarkable 36% of the 712 students who enrolled for the 2024 placements—roughly 2000 total candidates—have not yet secured employment. Students' stress levels have increased as a result of this occurrence and others, especially in light of the post-Covid-19 employment market environment. It is crucial to grasp the complex placement environment as students strive to enrol in the esteemed IITs in the hopes of ensuring bright careers. Even in the face of attractive offers with generous compensation, obstacles arise that call for a realistic assessment of expectations and professional goals. #unemployement #IITBOMBAY

Imaging studying in a college ranking 3rd among engineering colleges in India and still not getting placed {acc to National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), 2023} ? This is what happened at Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, an institute well known for its excellent education and job placements, which failed to place a whopping 36% of their 2024 batch (712 out of 2,000 students). ? This is 2.8% higher than last year, when 32.8% of 2,209 students went without jobs. Surprisingly enough, even the usually high-demand computer science branch faced this issue.? ? Plus, most of the 380 hiring companies that came to campus for selection were Indian, not foreign most of the time. This is what was said by the placement cell: “The global economic situation made it harder to get companies to come to campus. We had to negotiate a lot on salary packages.” ? An interesting story that surfaced: A professor from IIT Bombay pointed out that the institute's focus on maintaining high average salary packages has led to a system where students often reject offer letters and seek employment through other means, despite securing placements. ? As students dedicate years of hard work to gain admission into IITs, the current situation highlights the need for a closer examination of the job market and the alignment between academic excellence and employment opportunities. ? In my opinion, it is crucial for IIT Bombay and other top institutes to reassess their placement strategies and work towards ensuring better job security for their graduates.? ? This may involve fostering stronger industry partnerships, diversifying the range of hiring companies, and providing students with the necessary skills and guidance to navigate the evolving job market. ? What are your thoughts on this? #iitbombay #placements #jobmarket

IIT Bombay could not give jobs to 25% of its graduates 38% of IITian across 23 campuses are unemployed. Most of the IIMs are struggling to get placements for their students. The story is more dire for other colleges and other streams in India. Several studies have indicated that only 1 in 4 MBAs, 1 in 5 engineers, and 1 in 10 graduates are employable. I can relate to this firsthand as we interview hundreds of candidates year-round for various fresher positions. Both educational institutions and, more importantly, the young graduating students must make a massive effort?to skill themselves so that they are employable. It is high time that higher educational institutions move away from irrelevant curriculums and learning methodologies that will not benefit the students. A paradigm shift is also needed in the mindset of young job seekers. Most of them want to have the top remunerations without exhibiting an intent to work hard, take ownership, and perform. #employmentcrisis #jobs #workethics #careers #highereducation #reality
