Good Friday Ya’ll! I am a huge fan of SVI (Service Video Inspection) services that some dealers use to promptly show the client what repairs and maintenance services their vehicle actually needs. And usually while the car is still on the lift. But how effective is the old school MPI (Multi Point Inspection)? ?One that has been completed fully and accurately and is then presented to the client from a sales oriented service advisor? I propose it can be equally effective as any SVI, yet I am amazed at how many dealerships still go through the process of printing an MPI, never shares the information with the client, staples it tothe RO, and then files it away. If you have read this far, I don’t need to sell you on the benefits of selling service.? But what I would like you to ponder is WHY the advisors don't upsell additional services. I have spent a lot of time with some very good advisors out there and I can confidently share that it often times a lack of confidence the Advisor has getting the additional work through the damn shop! Same goes for an SVI.? Imagine that! Service Advisors that could probably upsell additional services but actually choose NOT too! What would an extra .2 hrs on every RO look like for ya? Go talk to your advisors today. Find the obstacles and remove them.

September 14, 2024, was a special auspicious day. As usual, all wedding halls and temples were adorned with beautiful events accompanied by auspicious music. For me - At 8 AM, auspicious music was played at our Tiruchengode SRDIE dealer's group, as the engineers indicated they would be commissioning three PA1224 p compressors today. At 9 AM, information was provided to the Cummins dealer in Tiruchengode, and arrangements were made for the commissioning. The calendar indicated a good time from 10:45 to 11:45 Am. The PA 1224 p models from the three companies (Sri Annamar Rathna Borewell, Sri Rathna Agencies, Sakthi Borewells Salem) lined up correctly at the Cummins dealer’s service center between 9 and 9:30 Am. The Cummins dealer and our dealer’s service engineer team together completed all necessary preparations for commissioning before the good time of 10:45 to 11.45 Am. At precisely 10:45 Am all three company owners uttered the word "ok," and the three compressors were commissioned smoothly and handed over to the owners in a very short time due to proper planning. The joy on the faces of the three company owners reflected their happiness, as they expressed their satisfaction by offering sweets to our dealer team and the Cummins dealer team before leaving contentedly. Delivering customer satisfaction through precise planning on the same day was a delight for us as well. Our dealer and the Cummins team stated, "Sir, even if thirty compressors come, we can handle them excellently." Their words inspired me immensely, igniting a desire within me to commissioning 30 nos Bobcat PA 1224 p models within at least a month. I have started making the necessary preparations. State Farm to Test Mitchell Estimating in Ohio State Farm is piloting the Mitchell estimating platform for a select group of their Select Service collision repair centers in Ohio. This test aims to improve customer experience by exploring new ways to write estimates and source parts. The program will leverage Mitchell's existing integration with PartsTrader, so the current parts sourcing requirement remains unchanged. Repair shops not mandated to use PartsTrader will utilize Mitchell's Integrated Parts solution. This is a limited test, but State Farm hints at potentially expanding the program based on industry feedback and their goal to provide a multi-platform approach for different repair facilities. While only a portion of Ohio's Select Service shops are involved for now, this test could signal a broader shift in how State Farm handles repairs in the future. Looking at the dealership’s review activity, negative mentions of repairs occur 62% less often than the industry benchmark. Negative mentions of the service department at Jeff Wyler Honda of Colerain are 16.65% below the industry benchmark. Here’s the playbook, very simplified. Technicians want to know: What is the next level of the job? How long might it take to move up? What are the pay rates? The benchmarks do they need to hit to advance?
