Case Study - The Self-Help Group The client was a self-help group enabling people with similar medical conditions to share their experiences. Continuing this support during the Coronavirus outbreak when face to face meetings aren’t an option. The majority of the members are of pension age and not comfortable with technology. The committee were worried that telephone calls wouldn’t be an effective way to meet and that both existing members and newly diagnosed patients would miss out on vital support at this challenging time. I trained each committee member on Zoom during an individual 1:1 Zoom call and enabled the move to online meetings. The committee became very comfortable with using Zoom for remote meetings, after the training they took to it like ducks to water! They can meet to plan support for group members through sharing experiences and pooling resources. It’s important that people who are newly diagnosed can communicate with other people in a similar situation. Now they can continue doing this important work throughout the coronavirus crisis. #zoommeetings #covid19 #meetingmanagement

We recently discovered that Doctors in Distress runs a Wednesday Support Group for all healthcare professionals. Held via Zoom each week 12:30-1:30 pm supported by an experienced facilitator. Participants are encouraged to chat informally and confidentially with other healthcare professionals on themes led by the group. So, if you are suffering from stress, or burnout, and have questions about self-care, this could be the confidential space you’ve been looking for. No pre-booking is required, just express your interest via Eventbrite or by emailing [email protected] and they will send you the link. https://buff.ly/4gmYy6q #StartTheConversation (and keep talking.) #ChangeTheNarrative #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #worldsuicidepreventionday #WSPD

Over two days at Behavioral Health Tech, we spoke with 50+ professionals who work with digital health platforms, many of whom offer video consultations as a core service. Here’s what stood out: ?? For many, "video calls" are synonymous with Zoom. But it was clear that not everyone is a fan - Zoom was often described as expensive, cumbersome, inflexible, and too corporate. ?? Professionals highlighted the friction caused by redirecting users to external platforms. Keeping patients and practitioners on the same platform builds trust, is more secure, and eliminates unnecessary steps such as app downloads or authentication. Shockingly, many people don’t realize that… ?? …video call integration is possible and doesn’t have to be expensive or overwhelming. You don’t need a massive dev team to deliver seamless, branded experiences. ?? Many shared frustrations about paying premium prices for services like Zoom, Vonage, or Twilio, only to experience poor support. ?? Some companies are considering building video in-house but are struggling with the complexity and cost trade-offs of developing a WebRTC-based solution. ?? Switching between Twilio, Zoom, and Amazon Chime didn’t solve problems for many - they just traded one set of issues for another. ?? Staying secure and HIPAA-compliant is non-negotiable, but why does it have to be so expensive? What’s your biggest frustration with virtual consultation tools? If any of this resonates, drop me a DM - I might have a solution for you!
