Here's a perspective from a well intentioned news writer that misses the point. https://lnkd.in/dvDc9Aj8 Essentially the argument is that the telegraph of old was more reliable than the current phone system. - the Gamewell system provides NO supervision for what is connected; for instance, if a tree falls across a circuit breaking the wire in the middle of the night, no one is notified that the entire circuit has become inoperable. - with the exception of the manual pull boxes, the Gamewell system STILL requires power to operate, so lack of power either at the premise or at the control center will cause the system to fail - The installation of a Gamewell system box can easily exceed the cost of a complete fire alarm system due to the fact that they are manufactured by hand and hard to aquire. - A Gamewell system does not meet the fundamental requirements mandated for Underwriters Laboratories compliance for Fire alarm systems. - in any critical mission critical function, testing is critical. Gamewell boxes can only be manually tested and then require someone at the box to manually rewind the Gamewell box in similar fashion to how one might wind a grandfather clock. - There is a reason that very few Gamewell systems exist in the country. It is very evident that there are better solutions. - there is much better technology that DOES NOT rely on cellular and has testing and redundancy built in, so the lack of education on better options will help. - Continuing to utilize taxpayers dollar to fund a Gamewell system is not prudent, and requiring property owners to purchase and install equipment that is more akin to museum pieces for nearly $10,000 is an often overlooked tax. Just ask the York property owners that just purchased a required Gamewell box and had it installed only to be told that it is discontinued and can be discarded, and that now they will need to purchase additional equipment. - at some point, Hanover's Gamewell system will follow the path of York's system and become relegated to collectible pieces. The hundred year old technology, like the telegraph, has been replaced.

Today, we’re exploring why accurate “dispatchable location” is crucial for 911 call system management. Back in August, a couple in Palm Beach County came back home to find their doors irreparably damaged after first responders were sent to the wrong address. Even worse, the county is only paying for half of the cost of repairs! This unfortunate situation highlights the significance of obtaining accurate emergency information. When we take the time to ensure that our systems operate smoothly, we continue to fortify the trust between the general public and first responders but, more importantly, we keep our communities safe! This does not happen in Louisiana. It needs to happen everywhere. It also needs to happen to the unlicensed public adjusters who call themselves “estimators” and who write vastly inflated fraudulent estimates. Even the companies that they work for aren’t licensed or registered to do business in Louisiana. What ending up happening to them? Absolutely nothing. Enjoy your rate increases. Bad news coming from Florida’s storm affected areas. We can take this opportunity to reeducate consumers on how to properly vet and shop for storm work contractors needed to restore consumers back whole. Here Are 6 Red Flag Tips (from my previous customer experiences) on how to recognize an unlicensed contractor: 1) Typically the cheapest estimate or “best deal” for your money is the preferred by consumers. Usually perpetrator tells victim they can offer them a discount because they are small & local. 2) Aggressive sales tactic: Perpetrator pushes to get started ASAP & at huge discount than what licensed contractors are charging. Victim becomes vulnerable to this because they want the work done fast & cheap. 3) Paying cash: Victim pays cash or writes check out to a person instead of a business. The scammer will run off with cash or cash check at bank same day. By the time the victim realizes they were scammed, the check has been cashed. 4) Unmarked vehicles, no legitimate contract or questionable contract, no copy of license or workers comp on hand. Perpetrator will say they are “licensed & insured” to make the victim be as ease to proceed. 5) Severely low bid: Bid so low that the perpetrator will do some work & abandons the job. Victim realizes work is done wrong but when they go to sue contractor, the legal fees outweighs what the victim can recoup from suing contractor. In most cases the money paid for job is a loss. Victim has to pay licensed contractor to redue the work & in most cases will cost victim much more to remove & replace. 6) To avoid becoming a victim, please call your local municipality construction licensing board or search the DBPR website: www.myfloridalicense.com (click on Licensed search tab) Have any more questions regarding roofing & to be more informed, message me directly!
