Beyond the uniform, the narrative also shifts to the personal realm, where the officer grapples with the complexities of citizenry. Facing the daunting Naxal challenge, the book delves into the relentless pursuit of internal security amidst systemic challenges. With candid insight, the author details the campaign for police reforms and their broader impact on society. Unforgettable Chapters is more than a memoirs; it’s a testament to the courage and resilience of those who dedicate their lives to the service of the nation. #UnforgettableChapters by Prakash Singh.

Summer reading rec. Change may be the new norm, but does that make institurional history irrelevant? What is your organization doing to preserve institutional memory and knowledge? Is technology starting to police what is remembered and what is not, what is valued and what is not. Thanks Philip McKenzie for this timely recommendation. #history, #institutionalknowledge
In my latest #NonBusiness book recommendation is The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa. This book reads like a dream in its prose but describes a reality that?feels more like a nightmare. And one we would be wise to pay attention to. In this fictional world, items are routinely “disappeared” and wiped from memory. The result is a group of people who live with a consistent nagging of loss and an increasing inability to make sense of the world around them. Sound familiar? When we choose to ignore history or, even worse, reject many of the realities that are foundational to the world around us, we are, in essence, empowering our own memory police. Our ability to make sense of the world and imagine and create viable future(s) becomes a casualty. You can feel it happening all around you….the pandemic…disappeared….January 6th…disappeared….rise of right-wing authoritarianism…disappeared….illegitimate judiciary….disappeared. Check out the book and beware of the memory police….don’t allow them to strip away our sense-making and solidarity. Failure to recognize the world as it is makes it infinitely harder to shape the world that could be...

The history of the CIA and FBI is intriguing. It is easy to see how the need for these institutions arose. it is also possible to to understand how the increase of centralized government was abused for the benefit of a few. For those who like to learn about history or who like to think about solutions to overreaching government bureaucracies, this book stirs the mind and informs.

John Rutan for Franklin County Prosecutor: Quote #2-Count Down-With 105 days till election day, and 77. "Always be happy, never be satisfied" By John Rutan. This is one of the few quotes I came up with on my own when I first started my quote book. This is important because it reminds be to always keep working. Reminds me of the saying "On Earth as it is on Heaven". Until we have peace worldwide, and no poverty, there will always be work to be done. Instead of living in your own bubble (being happy), also never be satisfied because other people are still suffering. https://lnkd.in/eA642fFy

Sam Freedman's intro to this is good. Centralisation(with Government Treasuries also becoming too powerful), Executive over-reach/inexperience with civil servants who give independent advice being sided-lined, and a lack of contestation of bad government/policy from the media - these are three things Freedman points to. I'd also add the collapse of mass political parties and unions as civic actors bringing influence to bear on the executive among other factors. I'm getting the book.
