Women's month, a time to honour the women who have made important sacrifices and contributions to society,?both past and present. On the other hand, this holiday also serves as a grim reminder of the challenges that women still face today. Some of these challenges are domestic and other forms of gender-based violence, poor inclusion, sexual harassment, unequal pay, unequal access to education, employment and resources, to mention a few.
?
Sadly, there has been a long term inherent cultural bias regarding gender. The good part is that this narrative is changing now. More awareness, education and open dialogues are helping all of us evolve.... but there is still a long way to go.
?
I have had the privilege of experiencing the evolution of women in the workforce, specifically in the ‘Banking Industry’ – the way they have been able to bring about change and transformation to a once male-dominated workforce, by their natural tendency to be more transformational and servant leaders.?
?
As?I mentioned, there is still a long way to go and this is only the beginning. Let's stand together in solidarity with our communities in commemorating Women's Month and work towards a world that is truly diverse, equitable and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. It’s our responsibility as leaders everywhere,?to continue to empower and support through their life journeys and careers.?
?
We must continue to pay it forward!
?
Wishing all the ladies a very Happy Women's Day!
