I've hired 100s of people over the last 20 years. Here is what I look for in A-Players. They are what drove the studio at Gameloft & Blizzard. Ones who are: 1???Highly skilled in their craft. But more importantly: 2?? Deeply engaged with your company’s vision. Never choose raw talent over cultural alignment Hiring someone with less experience.. Who is fully invested in your mission.. Will drive your studio forward. How to spot A Players: 1. Engage Early: As the founder or manager, be involved from the first interview. You set the tone for alignment. 2. Ask the Right Questions: “What excites you about this role?” “How do you align with our mission?” 3. Look for Ownership: Do they treat your vision as their own, or are they just chasing a paycheck? Build with those who care. Not just those who can. Skill can be taught; passion and engagement can’t.
