There’s a difference between authenticity and reality—not better or worse, just different. One key distinction is this: reality is more complex, something we learn early on in daily life—a day can be beautiful but cold, a person fascinating but dull, and so on. Documentaries capture reality, and using them in communication can feel intimidating. But not when you’re talking about Alta Badia. Because it’s a place that, while not without its flaws, is undeniably stunning. Its people—well, they’re people too—but they embody a unique sense of cultural identity and openness to the world. It’s a privilege to work on stories about them, with them, or even just to visit them. Here’s our latest project: a campaign built around a documentary, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the organization of a large, complex event—a World Cup ski race—made possible by volunteers. These are locals who dedicate themselves to celebrating skiing not only as a sport but as a cultural expression. Thanks to Alessia Sorà, Janpaul Piai and Caterina Crepaz and the whole team of Alta Badia for sharing a roasted chicken in their office while the pandemonium outside was already in full swing and for thetheir exceptional and not-taken-for-granted teamwork.
