Marketing isn’t about gut or data. It’s not hard to make decisions based off your gut. It’s not hard to look at the data and see if something is working or not. There’s actually a bigger problem… all channels eventually get crowded and don’t work as well. When we analyzed 15,000 social posts we found that the content containing short-form videos had 32.18% more reach. 3 years ago it was 54.77%. On October 7, 1994 the first banner ad had a 44% click rate. Now it’s less than .01%. And we are seeing ad costs rise 5 to 10% a year. So if data and your gut won’t solve the issue of engagement decreasing, ad costs rising and marketing channels not being as effective as they once used to, what’a the solution? The answer is experimentation. Run at least one new marketing experiment a week, if not ideally 3. Most of the experiments will fail, and less than 20% will work. But that 20% is what’s going to provide the majority of your growth overtime. You just won’t know what will work until you start experimenting. Could this be an example greed? We must obviously be very careful with our sources, but let's assume this is accurate. If you have employees with high salaries, and they still want to steal from the company, it's troubling.
