“Thanks for The Clap, Emma”
You’re so very welcome Dave Chance...
Given my previous posts on LinkedIn about the COLONY legend that is Dave Chance, you’d be forgiven for thinking there might be something more to our friendship ??
Alas - Dave is not my Juliet, nor am I his Romeo.
However, as someone who responds well to positive feedback, I think it’s important to tell people when they’ve done a good job.*
I mean, who doesn’t find compliments motivating?!
Until recently however, my compliments were dished out in ad-hoc private scenarios.
I see it, I call it. But the world doesn’t hear it.
Not anymore, though, thanks to our fabulous Christina Webb-Sfougaras, who created this fun channel in her spare time for COLONY staff to celebrate each other’s daily wins and contributions easily…
with ‘Claps’ ??
(P.s. Christina does SO MUCH MORE than create effective comms channels for us. But that’s a whole post in itself).
This is just a fun way for us to sweat the small stuff each day, and I thought it worth sharing because I think more people should do this for each other.
Coworking can be a challenging industry to work in.
It’s a hybrid between hospitality and professional services.
All our roles – from sales to front-of-house - are multi-faceted. And when you’re part of a growing scale-up, you sometimes have to muck-in and do things that go above and beyond your job description.
In some instances that can cause Imposter Syndrome to creep in.
So something as simple as a Slack Channel dedicated to recognising mini-wins is pretty f*cking mint if you ask me.
Thank you Christina Webb-Sfougaras for yet another fab introduction to the Colony backend ??
*Genuine, constructive compliments of course. I don’t blow smoke, Sandra.
