??Did you know??? One of the biggest misconceptions about the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), is that we’re a large, publicly funded organization. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. ICRP is a?charity (UK Registered Charity 1166304)?with a global team of just?five paid employees. That’s right—our reach and impact in radiological protection around the world is made possible by the dedication of?400+ volunteer experts. These are passionate professionals from across the globe, contributing their expertise to safeguard public health, all without compensation. But here’s the challenge: for ICRP to keep advancing the future of radiological protection, we need?broader support from organizations worldwide. The science of radiological protection relies on sustainable contributions, not monumental funding. I often say we’d rather have 100 organizations contribute $1 each than one organization give $100 (though we’d welcome both!). This collective support, large or small, fuels our work and helps sustain the essential research and guidance we provide. ? News from the Quilter Foundation Local Community Fund ? The first charity to have been awarded grants from the Quilter Foundation Local Community Fund is Breathe Arts Health Research (Breathe), world leaders in combining creativity and robust scientific research to improve health and wellbeing. They deliver diverse evidence-based programmes across a range of art forms, to meet specific clinical and wellbeing needs. Our grant will support children and young people who have had a brain injury or stroke.
