And... we are officially sold out for RobOpsCon 24 https://lnkd.in/gfNHnqay The bi-annual conference on robot operations is taking place on October 15th at the InOrbit.AI Robot Space in Silicon Valley. Big thanks to everyone who signed up as a speaker, sponsor or attendee. If you would like to attend, feel free to leave a comment or DM the organizers, Joe Wieciek or Florian Pestoni. We will contact you if there are any cancellations. Couldn't make it to the conference? No worries. The sessions will be recorded and posted on robotoperationsgroup.org a few weeks after the event.

Day 28/28 "becoming a roboticist" with Dr. John Vial: It's a wrap or maybe it is just the beginning. For the last day of this challenge I managed to command the Turtlebot3 to follow a square trajectory using a simple PD controller that reads the odometry topic for feedback. For some reason when the commanded linear velocity goes from 0.0 to any other value, the robot rotates slightly in the simulation, which is of course not supposed to happen. Thus, the result is not perfect but it is good enough for me as my first controller for a simulated mobile robot in ROS. It has been a very rewarding process throughout the last 5 weeks. Consistency is key in achieving any valuable goal, such as finishing this course was to me, and it was constantly emphasized by Dr. John Vial that we should work every day on it. I wanna thank him for the well structured, concise and useful content, for the very practical perspective given to the course, and above all for his commitment with the participants, providing support constantly. An additional benefit of this course was the growth of my network thanks to his emphasis on sharing our work online. I enjoyed and learned a lot, but even better than that is the fact that I ended up with a new habit acquired: work one hour a day on my skills as a roboticist.

Last year, Opentrons Labworks Inc. announced OpentronsAI and set out to revolutionize and accelerate the use of laboratory robotics. That vision is now becoming a reality. With the continued acceleration and adoption of AI in experimental design, the bottleneck is quickly becoming experiment execution. AI will drive tremendous demand for laboratory robotics like the Opentrons Flex, and AI enablement on these platforms will soon be table stakes. While some of my counterparts may still advocate for designing robotic protocols using traditional, graphic tools or proprietary, closed, and overly complex solutions, I firmly believe those days are numbered. At Opentrons, we are investing in the future—a seamless software ecosystem paired with intelligent hardware and closely coupled with AI tools. This synergy will enable experimental designs to flow directly into robotic language, dramatically accelerating the pace of science. We are looking forward to engaging with our community next week at #SLAS2025 to share our progress on OpentronsAI.
?? More can’t-miss content at #SLAS2025! ?? Join us at the Solutions Spotlight Theater to see a live demo of OpentronsAI, our cutting-edge tool that combines a user-friendly GUI with a trained large language model (LLM) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology. ????? ??? What’s in store? We’ve incorporated feedback from 300 Beta users to refine the model and interface, delivering a streamlined and efficient protocol development experience. ??? When: Monday, Jan 27, 1:30 PM PT ?? Where: Solutions Spotlight Theater, SLAS 2025 ?? A few days ago, I submitted an article to a journal for review. The current version of the article, titled "Analysis of Robotic System Models Through Property Inheritance from Petri Net Meta-models," is available on Arxiv. I encourage anyone interested in Petri nets, the analysis of properties of robotic systems, and my recent research to read this article. https://lnkd.in/gGv484wY
