President Franklin Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 on this day in 1942,?which excluded civilians from defined military zones on the West Coast. This led to the forced removal and incarceration of nearly 120,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans, who had not been convicted of any crime, into concentration camps. ? This free performance follows a young California girl and her family as their lives are turned upside down by forces beyond their control. An otherwise happy American family suddenly faces suspicion, racism, and displacement by their countrymen after the United States is thrust into World War II. This, and all Living Voices performances at the Jackson Center, are sponsored by the Sokolski Family Fund at the Community Foundation of Warren County and the Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union.
