In the fast-paced restaurant industry, it’s easy to get bogged down in the day-to-day. A consultant advisor provides an objective, fresh perspective that helps uncover opportunities you might not have considered. From integrating technology to optimize service flow to leveraging social media for increased engagement, they bring innovative solutions to the table. A consultant’s outsider viewpoint is particularly valuable when tackling challenges like employee training, menu revamps, or even a complete rebranding. Their unbiased feedback ensures that your strategies align with current market trends while staying true to your vision.

Top 10 things to do for your restaurant in 2025: 1. Differentiate yourself from your competitors. The world, and likely your community, is saturated with businesses just like yours. Give people a reason to choose yours. READ: Purple Cow by Seth Godin 2. Become customer-centric over product-centric. Yes, you sell a product, but build your product based on customer behaviors and insights. This will create a deeper connection and lead to long-lasting relationships. Gather as much data as you can from your customer; online ordering habits, phone number, email address, claimed offers, etc. READ: Customer Centricity by Peter Fader 3. You MUST market your business! How many marketing channels do you currently utilize? Email/SMS marketing, social media (organic and paid--Meta Ads), Google Search Ads, SEO Optimization, Customer Retention Programs, Reviews, Direct Mailers, Employee Scripts, etc. It takes an average of 7 impressions to convince a new customer to visit your establishment, so put an emphasis on customer retention. READ: The Restaurant Marketing Mindset by Chip Klose (also, listen to Restaurant Strategy Podcast on Spotify) 4. Control your Labor and COGS! This is the key profitability in the restaurant industry, and I'd imagine it's the same in all industries. It's especially important to reel in labor and COGS during slower periods. Project your sales and budget accordingly. Your wallet and your business will thank you. 5. Implement software programs to streamline your business operations. Scheduling and payroll, inventory management, online ordering, reservations, training, etc. Yes, these cost money, but most of them will be worth every penny with the time saved and information you get out of them. 6. Keep your restaurant clean and keep up on wear-and-tear. Don't let your restaurant become outdated. The restaurant you opened 15 years ago isn't going to "wow" people today, especially if you don't freshen things up. Keep your customers engaged. They will notice and appreciate the money you invest back into your business. Consider hiring an interior designer. 7. Optimize and upgrade your website! You are doing a disservice to your restaurant with outdated websites. Get one that looks like it's from the 2020s! 8. Hire the right staff. No more hiring the first inquiry in a time of need. READ: 96 Great Interview Questions to Ask Before You Hire by Paul Falcone 9. Make sure your employees love you. Command-style "leadership" is dead. Your staff isn't an NFL team and you're not Bill Belichick. You'd be surprised how simple it is to keep staff around for the long-term. DOWNLOAD "What Restaurant Employees Want" report: https://lnkd.in/eUjFySJj 10. Love your business. Take a damn vacation. Give yourself some slack. Stop working 50-60-70-hour weeks. If you are, I encourage you to find a restaurant coach or consultant. You started a business to support you and your family, not the other way around!

This week’s action-packed National Restaurant Association Show created a lot of buzz around a critical topic: employee engagement - which is at an alarming 11-year low. The good news? There are some brilliant minds on the case. In a fantastic #2024RestaurantShow session, gusto! fresh bowls & wraps founder and CEO Nate Hybl, The Coca-Cola Company’s Eric Blumenthal, Olympic Gold Medalist Laurie Hernandez, and ADDO co-founder Kevin Paul Scott shared their top strategies. Nate said it best, “We may have a labor shortage, but we don’t have a labor shortage for employers who are really taking care of their folks.” When we truly listen to our teams, we can get to the root cause of turnover and take action to prevent it. That’s exactly what we’re achieving with our Harri Engage customers and the results are clear. They’re seeing a drastic reduction in sub 90-day turnover, from 44% down to 15%. And this is just the beginning. Engaged employees create a ripple effect, leading to happier guests and a healthier bottom line. Learn more from this brilliant session here ?

Hot off the press! We polled 1,500+ restaurant employees about what motivates them at work. They said their team is just as important as financial incentives. That means you can't ignore team-building activities and behaviors that harm your culture. Like Danny Meyer said, your restaurant has a culture, whether it's intentional or not. The employees also told us: - Why they quit restaurant jobs - What makes them stick around - How they like to be trained Restaurateurs like Danny Meyer (Founder of Union Square Hospitality Group & Shake Shack), Kwini Reed (Co-Owner at Poppy + Rose), and Chris Britt (COO at Epic Brands) weighed in on the findings. They shared actionable steps to have a happier, more engaged restaurant team. See some of the key insights here ??

Last night we attended a great session with Heels & Handshakes . It was hosted by the Zak Consulting Group, and spoke of Unlocking Potential in the Workplace. The three big takeaways: 1) Organizations that prioritize employee development are 3x more likely to retain their employees. (Gallup) 2) Only 36% of US employees are engaged in their work. (Gallup) 3) Companies that invest in employee development outperform those that don't by 147% in earnings per share. (Deloitte) Employment development isn't just for office work. Restaurants can encourage their team members to learn new culinary skills or study for their sommelier certifications. Have a creative server? They can help with marketing. If your team is engaged with your restaurant and culture, your sales will reflect it. #marketing #hospitality #fridayfocus #quicktip #smallbusinesstip #marketingtip #restaurants #restaurantmarketing #smallbusinessmarketing #restaurantowners
