In an increasingly connected world, telecommunications infrastructure is essential for consumer communication, emergency services, and the operation of critical infrastructure. At RMC, we bring our expertise in risk management and industrial cybersecurity to protect the networks and systems that keep the world communicating. We specialize in the secure design and deployment of high bandwidth LTE networks for electrical utilities, identifying vulnerabilities and fortifying telecom systems against emerging threats. Whether it’s supporting mission-critical communications for federal clients or protecting private LTE networks, RMC ensures that telecommunications systems are secure and resilient in today’s evolving landscape. Let’s work together to strengthen the systems that keep us connected.

The UK NCSC's latest guidance for ICS/OT Asset Management highlights the role of unidirectional gateways for reducing the attack surface in ICS/OT environments. Hardware-enforced unidirectional technology on SPAN/mirror ports 1) protect OT networks by guaranteeing that no attack information can enter the OT network through the monitoring connection, and 2) can most often be installed without interrupting the flow of traffic between OT devices. The latter is important for critical industrial infrastructures whose operation cannot be interrupted without unacceptable impacts on society. Most of the OT cybersecurity solutions are designed and sold to address the near full set of industry segments. Power, water, manufacturing, maritime, rail, petrochem, ... Would an OT cybersecurity solution tailored for a specific sector be a better approach? Miki Shifman believes the answer is yes and makes his case in this session. He aims to explore the importance of detailed industry based context and rich data fidelity as key criteria in the evolution of operational technology (OT) security and how this is only possible with vertical industry specialization using rail and maritime as examples and highlighting the unique characteristics that differentiate these vertical industries. My comment: I've written in past market analysis articles that this is one possible approach for non top tier vendors in the OT Detection space. They lack the resources to compete horizontally across all sectors. Pick one sector, tailor the product, the marketing, and all the resources on that sector. It's a better chance if the sector is more different and perceived as less lucrative, eg maritime, rail. Even then it might not be enough to hold off the bigger players if they want the sector.
