We signed the first ever PPA between a renewable energy producer and an industrial cluster ? We officially began operating as a regulatory test zone ?? ?? We’re thrilled to share that 1Climate has been acquired and is now part of Distill Energy! Distill is designed to curate, summarize, and contextualize regulatory and policy data to facilitate the permitting process for solar and battery storage developers. By joining forces, we’re confident that this new partnership will carry on 1Climate’s mission of accelerating clean energy deployment by streamlining permitting and project development. Big thanks to everyone who has given us their time, feedback, and support to build up 1Climate over the past 2 years. We’re especially grateful for our investors and our partners at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), StartX, Village Capital, and the Harvard Innovation Labs. This prestigious program, facilitated by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), will bring new opportunities to advance clean energy initiatives and foster sustainable community development across the region. This milestone highlights Backroads of Appalachia’s commitment to revitalizing Eastern Kentucky and surrounding areas. The cohort will support ongoing efforts in the redevelopment of Evarts, KY, and the Hope High KY Project, located in the former Evarts High School. These initiatives aim to provide creative spaces, job opportunities, and sustainable economic growth, emphasizing renewable energy solutions and energy efficiency practices.
