Leading up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20th, this week was established to highlight the issues faced by transgender individuals, including discrimination, violence, and barriers to healthcare. It’s an opportunity to support the transgender community, celebrate their resilience, and commit to creating a more inclusive and respectful world. Everyone deserves to be their authentic self without judgement or micro-agressions in the workplace! One easy thing cisgender allies can do to show solidarity is to normalize adding your pronouns to your email signature. When it becomes normal for everyone to specify their correct pronouns, it makes it easier for trans people to specify their correct pronouns without feeling like they stand out. Another easy thing you can do is use the correct name and pronouns every single time you refer to your trans coworkers, whether they are in the room with you or not. You don't have to understand everything about a person to show them respect. You should always respect individual's identities and keep personal judgements out of the workplace - that's just basic professionalism. ??
