IIT Bombay could not give jobs to 25% of its graduates 38% of IITian across 23 campuses are unemployed. Most of the IIMs are struggling to get placements for their students. The story is more dire for other colleges and other streams in India. Several studies have indicated that only 1 in 4 MBAs, 1 in 5 engineers, and 1 in 10 graduates are employable. I can relate to this firsthand as we interview hundreds of candidates year-round for various fresher positions. Both educational institutions and, more importantly, the young graduating students must make a massive effort?to skill themselves so that they are employable. It is high time that higher educational institutions move away from irrelevant curriculums and learning methodologies that will not benefit the students. A paradigm shift is also needed in the mindset of young job seekers. Most of them want to have the top remunerations without exhibiting an intent to work hard, take ownership, and perform. #employmentcrisis #jobs #workethics #careers #highereducation #reality

Recently, I came across news about an Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay student receiving an annual salary of INR 4-6 LPA, which left me quite surprised by such an entry-level figure. Additionally, it was noted that only 75% of the students secured placements. Curious ??, I reviewed the report on the institute's website. It turns out that the number of students accepting salaries in the INR 4-6 lakh range was very small—only 10 out of 2,414 registered students, which amounts to just 0.41%. This is true in any corporates whereby bottom 1% might be non-performers and will draw the least salary. When 1.3% of 12-14 Lakh (1.2-1.4 million) students are admitted to IITs they don't need to prove their academic capability anymore. They can just explore various avenues in IITs to discover their 'mojo' and excel in those areas. The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has just around 450 seats in the open category, translating to 0.03% of Indian students getting admission for undergrad studies. Few interesting facts from the report and about IITs ?? Second highest placement ever in spite of challenging job scenarios ?? Record (highest) 364 number of companies offered jobs ?? Job offers greater than 1 CR = 22 ?? PPO = 258 ?? International Job offers = 78 ?? Increase of average salary to = INR 23.5 LPA (7.7%?? increase compared to last year) Some of the unplaced students prefered higher studies, self-employment, or entrepreneurship over the jobs offered to them. I am sure they will ultimately create lot more jobs for the country. :-) The report summary as attached. #iitb #placement #jobs #campus

Around 8,000 #IIT students, representing 38% across 23 campuses, are still unplaced. Out of 21,500 students who registered for placements in 2024, only 13,410 have secured jobs, leaving 38% still searching. This is a significant increase compared to two years ago. Dheeraj Singh shared troubling data on LinkedIn about #job placement issues at IITs. According to the data, a significant percentage of #students at Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and IIT #Delhi have not found jobs through placements. The data also indicates a worrying trend of increasing numbers of unplaced students at both older and newer IITs. #androguru #india

#5 Recently people (who does not even have permission to see IIT Bombay campus, let alone get selected there to study) have been spreading negative impressions because there were few candidates who got placed for about 4 LPA. According to such people, this lower number is somehow indicative that students lack skills. I have some different opinions: 1. If the candidate doesn’t have skills / less skills, that candidate won’t get placed in the first place. 2. In India, we do not have minimum wage criteria. Number of job offerings have reduced in recent times and number of candidates are exponential. So Indian organisations have a heuristic optimisation problem in front of them: How much minimum salary that they can offer and exploit the current conditions. As you are aware, few famous tech companies still offer < 5 LPA to freshers (same amount that was offered since atleast last 12 years). This is their solution to this optimisation problem. 3. IIT Bombay has a functional body that screens fraud companies and doesn’t allow them to come for placement rounds. But they allowed these 4 LPA organisations. This is maybe because if the body had restricted them as well based on lesser compensation basis, then there would be huge reduction in potential job offerings in this tense environment where job slash related news are surfacing on weekly basis. This is just my personal opinion. But people should stop taking digs, just for the sake of digging. #probe #startupindia #iitbombay #jobs #realgrowth #pseudogrowth

The harsh reality of the job market is catching up even with the best of the best. IIT Bombay, one of India's premier institutions, recently concluded its placement season, and the numbers are revealing a troubling trend. Despite being one of the most sought-after engineering colleges, only 75% of its students managed to secure job offers. What’s even more alarming? Some offers were as low as ?4 lakh per annum, a figure almost unimaginable for IIT graduates just a few years ago. What’s going wrong? Industry Demand vs. Curriculum: The skills imparted by these prestigious institutions are not always aligned with the rapidly evolving demands of the industry. Economic Factors: The current tech and economic slowdown has led companies to be more conservative with their hiring, impacting the number of high-paying jobs available. Saturation of Graduates: With over 1.5 million engineering graduates produced every year in India, even top-tier institutes are feeling the heat of market saturation. It’s clear that just having a degree, even from an IIT, is no longer enough. The need for industry-relevant skills and practical experience has never been more crucial. At CCentric, we bridge this gap by offering specialized training that ensures our students are not just employable but are the top choice for employers. If you're looking to future-proof your career, it’s time to invest in practical skills and industry knowledge. How are you preparing yourself for the evolving job market? Let’s discuss in the comments!?? #EngineeringJobs #CareerDevelopment #FutureOfWork #STEMEducation #Industry4_0 #EngineeringStudents #Engineeringplacements

According to a studies, 36% of IIT Bombay undergraduates do not secure employment. The India Employment Report says that 29% of graduates are out of work.? Though the "100% placement" stories from IIT and IIM catch people's attention this time of year, the most recent class of students at IIT Bombay is facing a major setback. There is growing worry about unemployment in India, since 36% of applicants are unable to get postings. A remarkable 36% of the 712 students who enrolled for the 2024 placements—roughly 2000 total candidates—have not yet secured employment. Students' stress levels have increased as a result of this occurrence and others, especially in light of the post-Covid-19 employment market environment. It is crucial to grasp the complex placement environment as students strive to enrol in the esteemed IITs in the hopes of ensuring bright careers. Even in the face of attractive offers with generous compensation, obstacles arise that call for a realistic assessment of expectations and professional goals. #unemployement #IITBOMBAY

6 个月Nice Rishabh Singh bhai, Sometimes highly capable and dedicated employees perform their roles with great knowledge, enthusiasm, and hard work. However, there are instances where their efforts go unrecognized, and organizational challenges such as internal politics, favoritism, or underpayment may come into play. Unfortunately, this can lead to talented individuals leaving their roles. It's important for organizations to recognize and value the potential of their employees, especially those who have been contributing to the company for several years. Acknowledging their efforts and fostering a supportive environment can make a significant difference in retention and overall organizational success. Organizations often prioritize recommended candidates during interviews, which can be an unfortunate practice. This issue is becoming increasingly common in the social sector, where favoritism and familial connections are influencing workplace dynamics. One of the biggest reason for employement crisis.
