Like many of you, I watched last night’s election with bated breath. As the founder of a consulting firm focused on equity and racial justice, I share the disappointment at the outcome. We now face another four years under policies that risk reversing progress for people of color and women. While this is a setback, I do not feel defeated. Communities of color, especially those with intersecting identities—LGBTQIA, gender nonconforming, or living with disabilities—have faced harsh disparities for far too long. These challenges persist, deeply rooted in structural racism, patriarchy, and classism. While many may feel powerless, we, the people, are an incredibly potent force—especially when we come together to build collective power. That is why I started Jeweld Legacy Group a decade ago. I knew then what is increasingly apparent now: meaningful, sustainable change starts locally, and every system must invest in making it happen. During the next decade, and especially over the next four years, we have to double down on our commitment to this work. In solidarity and strength, Carol Faye Burton #Equity #RacialJustice #CollectivePower #CommunityChange

Somehow, we need to raise the next generation of privileged men to take accountability for changing the world their predecessors left for them. And by that I don’t mean taking up leadership positions and creating a narrative that shows things are getting better when they’re actually stagnant at best, and more likely getting worse. I don’t mean ruling the world. I mean changing it. The *overwhelming* majority of people taking up space in justice work are women, transgender women, non-binary, gay or Black, Brown and Muslim The most marginalised are disproportionately represented in the real justice work. Whilst those that continue to benefit the most from the status quo (no matter how subtly) Continue to say things like “you’re naive to believe the system can change” “Things are significantly better than they were.” “You don’t know for sure that what you’re seeing/hearing/experiencing is true.” And why? Because this narrative means they don’t have to do the real justice work. Because that’s the really hard work. ??That’s the giving up control work. ?? The putting family and community first work. ?? The dealing with your demons work. ?? The making a better world for the kids work. ?? The putting purpose before power work. That’s the work that will change this world. ——— And if you’re one of the men with privilege using it for good, we see you and we appreciate you. Image: white on black reads “How so we raise men strong enough to challenge the status quo?”

Why is the concept of intersectionality necessary? ? DRAFT/ STUDY TIPS: The Necessity of Intersectionality: Unpacking the Layers of Identity and Inequality Introduction Intersectionality, a term coined by legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw in 1989, is a framework that examines how various social identities such as race, gender, class, sexuality, ability, and others intersect to shape individual and group experiences of oppression and privilege. This concept is necessary because it allows for a more comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted nature of discrimination and social inequality. Rather than viewing social issues through a single-axis framework, intersectionality provides a lens that reveals how interlocking systems of power affect those who are most marginalized in society. This essay argues that intersectionality is crucial for both academic inquiry and practical social justice work because it acknowledges the complexity of identities, addresses the limitations of single-issue activism, and enhances the effectiveness of policies aimed at achieving equity.

? I’m sharing my digital drawing of Kamala Harris today because my support for her represents more than just a vote—it’s a stand for a better, more just future for us all. 1?? It’s time for a woman to lead. We’ve had centuries of men running this country, and it’s time to let women show what we can accomplish. Kamala embodies the change we need. 2?? Standing against injustice. Trump represents a legacy of mistreatment, condescension, and control by men who abuse power. For those of us who have lived this, it’s time to see it end. 3?? Reproductive rights are human rights. The repeal of Roe v. Wade not only stripped women of choice but also endangered lives. No one should die because their right to health care is denied. This is feminicide—and it has to stop. 4?? Freedom of choice is fundamental to American democracy. No one has the right to dictate what someone else can or cannot do with their body. Our democracy is built on individual liberty and self-determination—values that protect our right to make personal decisions. 5?? Defending freedom from a hostile takeover. I see a troubling rise in Christian nationalism, an agenda that aims to push fundamental beliefs onto everyone, erasing freedom of and from religion. Kamala stands for the separation of church and state, a cornerstone of American democracy. Supporting Kamala isn’t just about politics—it’s about creating a future where justice, equality, and freedom thrive for every American: women, men, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people of every race and color. Together, let’s honor our diverse melting pot and build a nation where everyone’s voice and choices are respected. Here’s to hope, resilience, and the power of true change! ?? #KamalaHarris #WomenLead #TimeForChange #EqualityForAll #ReproductiveRights #FreedomOfChoice #SeparationOfChurchAndState #JusticeAndFreedom #AmericanValues #VoteForChange #Empowerment #LibertyAndJustice #EqualityMatters #TogetherForChange #HopeForAmerica #DiversityIsStrength #FutureIsFemale #ProtectOurRights #StandForDemocracy

I try not to get too political but it’s hard to watch what’s happening in America right now without feeling both alarmed and deeply concerned. Seeing crowds calling for “MASS DEPORTATION NOW” shows just how far some people are willing to go—even targeting racial minorities who were born in the United States. If a nation that prides itself on “liberty and justice for all” can allow such extreme ideas to gain traction, what does that say for the rest of us? And it’s not just immigrants and their families who are threatened; women’s rights—long fought for—are being undermined too. From attacks on reproductive healthcare to the appointment of judges hostile to gender equality, these rollbacks should worry anyone who cares about basic human rights. As Britons, we’ve always had close ties with our friends across the pond. But if these troubling trends go unchallenged, they risk setting a dangerous precedent that could embolden hardliners here at home as well. It’s a sobering reminder that no society is entirely immune to the rise of oppressive policies, and we should all be vigilant in standing against them.
