Love on your family. Pay attention to micro shifts in their patterns and behaviors. I have two friends who lost relatives (Black males) in their mid-twenties to suicide within two hours of each other in two separate states, and they didn't know each other. We have experienced a severe spike in Black male suicide over the last 6-8 years (49 percent) between ages 14 and 24 (JAMA Study). If we compare today's numbers to that of 1991, there is a 73 percent increase. Whether we want to admit it or not, we have a problem. And telling our young men to man up won't fix it. I have been sounding the clarion for years. We have a problem.
