Images from the culminating thesis degree project “The Edge of Infrastructure” by Yufei Wang (M.Arch. ’24) @yufei_wang11, which fuses strategies for ecological reclamation and public space along the Yangtze River. “This thesis presents an inhabitable infrastructure located on the banks of the Yangtze River in Wuhan, China, and aims to rekindle the historic relationship between the city and its river. Addressing current and future water-related challenges including flooding, drought, and pollution, the project explores and argues for new forms, means, and methods of cohabitation with water. The project proposal is situated between the built and unbuilt (city and river), stable and indeterminant (building and landscape), and macro and micro (infrastructure and human activities). Ultimately, it seeks to create a resilient urban environment that adapts to seasonal changes and encourages public engagement with the river.” Faculty advisor: Professor in the Practice Nathan Friedman @deldistrito
