Yes, consumers' wise use of #water is a widely discussed topic, but an equally important issue is the #prevention of leaks in infrastructure (mainly due to ageing #infrastructure) and the resulting loss of water in transport, as research shows that the amount of water lost through leaks and burst pipes is enormous. Preventing water loss 'at source' should also be seen as one of the first steps towards #sustainable, beneficial water management, the concept of global water neutrality. “Therefore, we need to limit individual consumption of water.” - so as, a Water Warrior, what is your water saving target? In his speech, Elon Musk emphasized the importance of technology to minimize water waste. In particular, I think the potential of research and new technologies such as #AI in water/sewage leak detection and mitigation (monitoring systems) and the potential of #Starlink & #satellite imagery in real-time #monitoring and management of #water infrastructure have a huge potential. The technology evolves so much faster than the regulation, the damage is done sometimes decades before regulation even begins to catch up, just look at the disaster that is PFAS. All these aluminum satellites will eventually fall back into the atmosphere and the vaporized aluminum will slowly fall into the ozone layer decimating it. This is fact of things to come.

Carbon Mapper has unveiled over 300 methane and CO2 plume detections from the Planet Tanager-1 satellite, marking a major milestone in emissions monitoring. ?? ???? ?????????????? ??, ??????????????-?? ???????????????? ?? ?????????????????????? ?????????????? ??????????—?????????????????????????? ??,?????? ?????????????????? ?????? ????????—???????????? ???????? ?? ?????????????????? ???????????????? ???? ?????? ?????????? ?????????????? ??????????. The leak was quickly verified on-site after being reported to the U.S. government and relevant agencies for a prompt response and necessary repairs. After the issue was resolved, Tanager-1 confirmed that no more plume was present. This event marked the first verified methane mitigation action, highlighting the importance and effectiveness of remote sensing technology.

"Minions" are bottle-sized, depth-keeping sensors designed by Melissa Omand's lab at URI. Upward-looking, re-used iPhones take photos of marine snow - aggregates of (dead) plankton, viruses, detritus that fall onto the Minions' lens.
