Publica is a proud supporter of the World Buskers Festival, this festival isn’t just about entertainment – it’s about community, creativity, and the magic of live performance.
And this year, there’s one show I can’t wait to see:?The Shift.
It’s not just a performance – it’s a celebration of wāhine strength, resilience, and storytelling. The dancers explore four shifts – cultural, stereotypes, mindset, and power – in ways that feel raw, real, and deeply moving.
For me, it’s the?Cultural Shift?that really hits home. Watching Māori and Pacific cultures brought to life through dance, personal stories, and even family photos reminds me how important it is to honor our roots while embracing modernity. It’s a reflection of loss, revival, and the beauty of heritage that stays with you.
Then there’s the?Stereotype Shift?– an unapologetic rejection of the idea that dancers need to fit a mold. These wāhine are fierce, bold, and so diverse in age, ability, and style. Seeing that represented on stage is a reminder that dance, like so many other things, is for?everyone.
I’m excited to see how this show shifts conversations, breaks barriers, and connects people through the universal themes of transformation and identity.
If you’re in Christchurch during the festival, I can’t recommend this enough.?The Shift?isn’t just a show – it’s a reminder of what’s possible when we embrace change, lift others up, and own our power and I for one will be there, come join me! https://lnkd.in/gn5c4atD
