Wounds Australia has had a long and successful association with EWMA ? European Wound Management Association. This week, our partnership was formalised in an agreement that will bring rich benefits to members of both organisations. The agreement helped define the ways in which EMWA and Wounds Australia continue to work together to improve care for people living with wounds.? "A great deal of research, cross-pollination of ideas and innovations, and general collaboration has taken place between our organisations over the years, This agreement brings clarity to this work while better defining the benefits to members." Members enjoy reciprocal benefits Wounds Australia members will enjoy significant discounts on attendance at EWMA events, including their annual Conference, while EWMA members can access member pricing for Wounds Australia events. Additionally, Wounds Australia retains its place on the EWMA Council – currently occupied by our Board Chair Kerry May – and both organisations will continue to cooperate on Conference programming, research and other scientific collaborations. An example of an amazing grassroots initiative in rare diseases. The Tatton-Brown-Rahman syndrome (TBRS) community is impressively active and involved in research to understand the mechanisms of this disease. This gives hope that people getting together can build resources and move scientists to achieve their goals, hopefully one day find therapies. Among other opportunities, TBRS has created a comprehensive patient data registry, biorepository of patient samples, and over 30 iPSC patient lines. Most of those resources are made available to network members at no cost. Perhaps the next step should be to reach across to other rare disease communities, which may have patients with related phenotypes or dysregulation of related molecular pathways, to further promote collaboration among researchers. https://lnkd.in/eDSaQkPH

?? Exciting news for SCN8A research and the rare disease community! The SCN8A Alliance is proud to announce that we have been selected to receive the #RareAsOne Network grant, made possible by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative DAF, an advised fund of Silicon Valley Community Foundation. This five-year, $800,000 grant provides vital resources for advancing research, building capacity, and fostering global collaboration in SCN8A-related efforts. With this funding, we will focus on: - Advancing SCN8A research through the Global SCN8A Research Roadmap and partnerships to accelerate transformative treatments and care strategies. - Strengthening our community by expanding support for families and medical professionals. - Fostering global collaboration with leading researchers, clinicians, and international partners. A milestone for Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative - DNDi: the launch of our first-ever Community advisory committee in India dedicated to deepening patient engagement. It will be good to see how with the help of this committee, we will be able to shape our approach to patient-centered drug development and access.
