Strength is not always revealed in a dramatic display; at times it is demonstrated with determined endurance. Endurance is one of the most difficult disciplines, but it is to the one who endures that the final victory comes. Congratulations to our group of NY office employees who participated in the 45th running of the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge last night in Central Park. We are very proud of you! The J.P.?Morgan Corporate Challenge is the world’s largest corporate running event.?Each year, events take place in 16 locations across eight countries and six continents with one mission: to serve as a catalyst between work and wellness. The Series offers companies opportunities to bond over a shared experience powered by fitness, friendly competition, food and fun. One part run and one part party, each 3.5-mile / 5.6-kilometer road race connects participants with their colleagues as they celebrate teamwork, camaraderie and the Corporate Challenge community worldwide.

? 'Step into the zone of awkward team building and tough presentations – they do pay off' | Writes Helena Morrissey I recently surprised everyone who knows me by joining in an indoor skydiving “team-building” #activity at a company I chair. I should clarify that the indoor version is nothing like?actual?skydiving – instead of leaping from a plane, I hovered a mere few feet off the ground in a wind tunnel, aided by an instructor. Even so, I was well beyond my comfort zone, nervous about making a complete idiot of myself, especially in front of 25 #colleagues – most of whom I’d only met earlier the same day. But I am so glad I did it. My technique was lousy, but the satisfaction of overcoming my fear, combined with bonding with new (and in some cases, equally terrified) colleagues outweighed any embarrassment. #TeamBuilding antics aside, we need to be willing to step outside our comfort zone at work if we’re to?#progress in our careers,?whether we’re in our 20s or 50s. No one can really improve by staying cosy and comfortable – we need to explore and take risks, pushing out our (often self-imposed) boundaries. Read more ?? https://lnkd.in/emXy4sFq

I help SME'S improve productivity and performance through communication and workplace culture workshops | Former Police Firearms Support Officer | Specialist Police Communications Trainer | AMC Facilitator |
I loved seeing this today at York Sport when I took my youngest to his weekly football class I have long advocated for this approach in businesses. Listen to your employees, engage with them and those small business wins will in fact lead to large wellbeing wins. I know that this is aimed at customers but the ethos behind what Ashley Smith and Richard Orr are doing is spot on. My instant reaction upon seeing this as a customer was "Wow. This place really listens to customers, engages with them and it's not just lip service". I am 100% convinced that I will not be the only one who feels like this when they walk through the doors and see this so fantastic work on making it so clear and visible. If something this simple makes customers feel a sense of value and belonging and unity with the business, imagine what it would do if it was applied to your employees too. imagine the cultural changes and true unity in a common purpose that could be achieved by implementing simple practices like this. It doesn't matter if you have 2 employees or 200. The principles and ethos behind it are the same and the benefits are just as positive. As a customer, who has never even met or spoken with Richard or Ashley before, I walked away genuinely thinking that York Sport must be a great place to work. I have absolutely no idea if this commitment to continuous improvement and wellbeing is engaged with at a staff level as well as a customer level but I really hope it is because that, in my book, is a *chefs kiss* moment

How About… Leveling Up Team Bonding with Friendly Competition? An element I try to incorporate into all of my events is a little healthy (friendly) competition, as it can be the secret sauce to creating stronger connections. Think about it: it gets everyone out of their comfort zones, pushing them to work together and have some fun in the process. It's like playing a board game with friends – everyone's giving it their all, cheering each other on (even if they secretly want to win!), and ultimately having a blast together. Picture an offsite with your team competing in a scavenger hunt, company Olympics, sailing regatta, or even a miniature golf tournament where the friendly competition isn't about crushing the other team; it's about building camaraderie and celebrating each other's strengths. People discover hidden talents, bond over shared experiences, and learn to laugh together. Recognize everyone's contributions, big or small, because at the end of the day, you're one team working towards a common goal. So next time you're planning a team bonding activity, embrace a little friendly competition! You'll be surprised at how much closer your team becomes, and how much more fun you have along the way. After all, a little playful competition can spark a whole lot of team spirit and lasting memories. What are your favorite ways to incorporate friendly competition into your team bonding activities? Share your ideas in the comments! #TeamBuilding #TeamBonding #FriendlyCompetition #WorkFam #TeamSpirit #Engagement

Building Bridges: The Success of H1's First Batch Team Building The inaugural team building event for H1 Site marked a significant milestone, bringing together our management group and people managers for an engaging 2-day, 1-night experience. From the moment participants arrived, the atmosphere was charged with excitement and camaraderie. Each individual embraced the activities with enthusiasm, showcasing unwavering support for one another. To ensure the event was meaningful, we tailored the activities to align with our Flex Ways of Working, emphasizing our four foundational pillars. Throughout the program, the themes of respect and valuing others, learning and adapting, and collaborating openly were at the forefront. These elements not only enriched the experience but also reinforced our commitment to a cohesive work environment. As the event unfolded, it became clear that this was more than just a team-building exercise; it was a celebration of our shared values and aspirations. The bonds formed during this event were palpable, igniting a spirit of collaboration that we hope will extend beyond this gathering. Looking ahead, we are eager to replicate this success and extend similar opportunities to all employees, fostering a culture of unity and shared purpose throughout our organization. Together, we are building a brighter future.

TEAM CULTURE HACK ==> DO HARD THINGS TOGETHER The weekend before an all-company meeting, a daring offer loomed in the air—a campout and trail race, optional for the team. Those who signed up were caught in the crossfire of excitement and apprehension. Set against the breathtaking Cascade Mountains outside Seattle, the Ragnar Trail Race awaited. Three legs, nearly 3000 feet in elevation gain, and a grueling 16 miles of challenging terrain. Forget plush hotels; tents and sleeping bags were the order of the day. Some were seasoned campers, while others were novices. Elite runners stood shoulder to shoulder with those attempting their first 5km trail run. And the kicker? Most had never run through mountain trails in the middle of the night. So, why did so many of us sign up? I have a theory—a trifecta of reasons: 1?? Personal Challenge High: The allure of a personal triumph. 2?? Team Belonging: A profound sense of being part of something greater. 3?? Peer Pressure: The unique ability of trusted peers to propel us beyond our limits. In the post-race snapshot, not a single face wears a frown. The glow of accomplishment radiated from every individual. Teammates supported each other, creating a case study for teams in business, sport, and life. Crucially, it was a hard thing we all did TOGETHER. Becoming a 'Best Company to Work For' isn't just about perks and ping pong tables—though those are undeniably delightful additions. It's about more, not rocket science but certainly no walk in the park. Here are three reasons why doing hard things together is the foundational culture hack for team chemistry and performance: ?? IRL Connection: In-person gatherings are irreplaceable for us earthlings. ?? Building Resilience and Confidence: Tackling the hard stuff makes all other tasks seem easier, boosting self-esteem and confidence. ?? Trust and Belonging: Trust begets bonding, evolving into relationships and ultimately creating a place of belonging. Ready to hack your team's culture? Start by embracing the challenge—TOGETHER. ?? #TeamCulture?#DoHardThings?#TogetherWeAchieve Ragnar Events LLC Kevin Rutherford Nuun Hydration

In the warm summer months, many companies and departments organize family-friendly events such as beach days, park picnics, or walking excursions. These occasions provide an excellent opportunity for team members to meet their colleagues' loved ones and gain insight into their personal lives and motivations. By understanding the reasons behind each individual's dedication to their work, colleagues can develop a deeper sense of camaraderie and empathy. If your workplace has yet to plan any outdoor activities this summer, it's not too late to take action. Organizing such events is a fantastic way to strengthen team bonds and foster a positive and inclusive culture. Start brainstorming ideas and gather suggestions from your coworkers to create a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

It’s been 2 years since we opened Driftaway Queenstown in 2022. As I reflect on not only the last 2 years since we opened, but also the journey to design and build, I wanted to share what I have learnt on the way. Hopefully someone who has the same goals and dreams as I had will read this and it will help just a little bit. Full Article: https://lnkd.in/e5aVjGAy Excerpt below...... Admit when you’re wrong.?We have been taught it is a sign of weakness to admit when we’ve screwed up, made a mistake or are wrong. Tried something new and it did not work? Own it, at least you tried, your braver than the person that didn’t. Made a mistake at work? Own up and show your team your human and make mistakes too. You or your team missed the mark with a customer? Tell them you’re sorry, and mean it. It doesn’t matter if you agree with them, all they want is to know you have listened, you are sorry and you genuinely have learnt from it. If we as leaders admit to our mistakes, then our team will never be afraid to own up to theirs. Your team is?everything.?As business owners we can’t do everything and oversee everything all at once. Your team is a representation of you and your brand. Don’t sell yourself short and hire just because your desperate, or there is no other suitable candidate. Be open and honest with your team, ask them about their days off or what's happening in their lives. Push them to be the best they can be, teach them new things and give them an environment they can learn and grow in. Most importantly, treat them with kindness and respect, you’ll never regret it. In return you’ll have a loyal team who will help you when you need it, and they’ll trust and respect you for it. Lastly,?Work Hard.?Whether you’re anything from an aspiring athlete, an employee wanting a promotion, or have dreams of opening your own business,?if there is only one thing you do, work hard. I’m not talking show up for your 40 hours a week and do a “good job”. The journey to “success” is not a path filled with a good work life balance, but the outcome is worth it. Put your hand up to do extra, help out when a co-worker is sick or the team is short staffed, complete your work without your manager having to chase you for it, anticipate what they might want from you next and do that without being asked, offer to take tasks off their plate so they can focus on other things. We all know the saying “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard” cliched, but true. Any podcast, or book you read about the stories of successful people all have one common theme, they got to where they are by working their arses off. We only have one life on this earth and the only currency worth anything is time. How you choose to spend yours will dictate your journey. “Everybody has the same amount of time during the day. You can either spend your time or invest your time.” —Chip Kelly ?
