It looks likely (not certain) Boeing U.S. West Coast factory workers will vote to strike today, reflecting their anger at a tentative labor deal agreed by union leaders and the aerospace giant. International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have for years been frustrated at the way Boeing leadership has treated workers in the Seattle area. Factory workers believe Boeing has prioritized share buybacks and juicy executive pay over the problems facing ordinary employees. New CEO Kelly Ortberg, who has moved to the area, has pledged to mend that relationship, but that may come too late to avoid a strike, which could begin on Friday. When Boeing moved its HQ to Chicago from Seattle to satisfy the CEO at that time everyone knew it was a matter of time before things would get bad. Boeing went from being an Engineering run company to a Business run company, which in this case was a very bad move. (Same thing with HP when the Business wonks got control over the Engineering geeks).

It is all Boeing Machinist Union propaganda. These spoiled machinists have had the best and highest paid jobs in all of Puget Sound for decades. And demanding 40% instead of 25% over a four-year contract is ridiculous. The company had to move its 787-production line to S. Carolina 15 years ago because of these brats. And they still haven't learned their lesson.

From CNBC: Boeing reported a net loss for the second quarter of $1.44 billion, or $2.33 per share, compared with a loss of $149 million, or 25 cents per share, during the year-earlier period. I don't know much about unions, but I know asking for a 40% raise when your company is drowning, which is partly due to the quality of the product its workers are providing, is pretty short-sighted.

I am surprised that Boeing did not give workers 40% raise as demanded by them, they can simply hike the price to NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and to the United States Department of Defense. Boeing is demising under the weight of its incompetence and greed.
