Start the school year off strong by teaching skills to foster self-regulation and stress-management. There are many self-regulation strategies that can be learned and improved with practice and intentional effort, including mindfulness, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation and guided imagery. Creating a safe space, such as a Calm Corner, will decrease distractions and provide students with the tools they need to practice self-regulations strategies.
