The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) suspended the license of a KFC outlet located in the Velavan hypermarket on Saturday. This action followed the discovery that the outlet was using magnesium silicate synthetic, a food additive, to purify used cooking oils, a practice not allowed under FSSAI regulations. Dr. Mariappan, the Designated Food Safety Officer said “We found the use of magnesium silicate synthetic to purify used oils, which is not permissible as per FSSAI standards. It is a matter of pride that an organization run by Indian farmers on a cooperative basis ranks first globally. 2. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has banned the mention of A1 and A2 milk on the labels of all milk and milk-based food products in India. A2 milk has been claimed to be healthier than A1 milk hence A2 milk and milk products are being sold at exorbitant prices, even though there is no scientific evidence for that claim.
