Thunderstorm & Lightning Safety:- Lightning is a massive electrostatic discharge between the electrically charged regions within clouds or between a cloud and the surface of the earth. When these electrically charged regions within the atmosphere temporarily equalize themselves through a lightning flash,it’s commonly referred to as a strike if it hits an object on the ground. WHAT TO DO: *Keep away from parking lots / Tennis Courts / Golf Courses / athletic fields / tents & temporary structuresNear clotheslines, wire fences, overhead wires and rail-road tracks *Buildings and other facilities should be properly earthed. * Do not shelter under an isolated tree *If you hear thunder, suspend all outdoor activities! *If you see Lightning, seek a shelter immediately! * Those working at height should suspend work immediately Vehicles:Cranes - lower boom * Drivers to stop work, move into the shelter at work site. *Stop whatever you are doing outside and seek shelter. *If you were outside adopt crouching position with feet together and hands on ears (Crouching). * Remember "30- 30 rule" etc.

Throwback to 2012—one of my early projects as a Traction Power Coordinator. Traditionally, masts were erected “naked,” requiring workers to follow in EWPs to install brackets and cantilevers. This exposed teams to avoidable risks such as muscular strains and working at heights. On the Darra to Springfield line in #Brisbane, we decided to challenge the norm. By introducing a quick-release shackle, we completely transformed the process—EWPs were no longer needed until we were ready to run the wire. This not only enhanced safety but also improved overall efficiency. Proud to have worked with a small but dedicated team that embraced innovation, prioritised safety, and delivered results. ??Sometimes, it’s about questioning the status quo to make the job safer and more effective. #safetyfirst #innovation #transportation #teamwork #efficiency
