I just received a call from a hiring manager that I worked with around this time last year. One of the candidates I placed on his team just finished rookie of the year and had an amazing sales year. I love these calls. Not only does it offer a small piece of validation to the work that I do, but more importantly it affirms that the right hire was made. I distinctly remember the decision to hire this candidate after two months of nonstop interviewing. The hiring team had a finalist early on in the process who ended up rejecting the offer. They then had to start from scratch and I think the hiring manager ended up doing like 20 total first round interviews over the course of the two month hiring span. But they got it right. When you’re in the middle of constant interviews sometimes the light of the tunnel is just getting someone onboarded. These processes can be grueling, time consuming, and come with many ups and downs, but the extra due diligence to find the right candidate can pay dividends long term. Hiring top talent is an absolute game changer for an organization and spending the time and resources upfront makes all of the difference.?
