Hey Phoenix metro area-based clinicians! Do you know anyone looking for behavioral analytic work with underserved populations? Anyone with interest in improving quality of life for teens and adults with complex cases (co-occurring intellectual disability and/or serious mental illness, significant problematic behavior that may have had law enforcement involvement in the past, and/or frequent psychiatric hospitalizations) would be encouraged to apply. I have tons of referrals for over-18 members who really need support but I am struggling to reach the right staff. I am looking for: -RBTs or BTs who want to branch out to older populations -People with group home, DTA, or other DDD experience who are open to learning a more complex form of intervention to help this population build skill repertoires to teach adaptive behaviors. -People with experience with teens and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities with a desire to learn systematic interventions to improve global quality of life. If you have worked with someone who is looking for this kind of employment that you would recommend, please send me a DM! We currently have two cases for 30 total hours a week in Glendale A single, very complex case in Laveen for 20-25 hours a week in Laveen Three cases in the East Valley (Mesa and Chandler) that could eventually total up to 35 hours per week if all were accepted (one member is currently in a long-term psychiatric hospitalization with no clear discharge date). #ABA #AppliedBehaviorAnalysis #Autism #IntellectualDisability #DevelopmentalDisability

?“Whatever journey you want to take, I’ll support you through”: a mixed methods evaluation of a peer worker program in the hospital emergency department"? ??Results of the study showed that ??Support provided to patients primarily consisted of friendly conversations (91.4%), ?Discharge planning (59.6%), ??Tactics to help the patient navigate their emotions/mental wellbeing (57.8%) ?And sharing their lived experience (50.1%). ??In over one third (38.9%) of all patient interactions, ?Peer Workers shared new information about the patient with the health care team (e.g., obtaining patient identification). ??Five major themes emerged from our interviews with Peer Workers which include: ??(1) Establishing empathy and building trust between the patient and their care team through self-disclosure; ??(2) Facilitating a person-centered approach to patient care through trauma-informed listening and accessible language; ??(3) Support for patient preferences on harm reduction; ??(4) Peer worker role facilitating self-acceptance and self-defined recovery; and ??(5) Importance of supports and resources to help Peer Workers navigate the emotional intensity of the emergency department.
