Happy Friday, Reinvention fam! We want to give you a look into the full humanity of the folks behind Reinvention Lab work. Today, take 2 minutes to close out your week with Colleen Keating-Crawford. As a working mom who also founded an international non-profit, Colleen wears many hats (including a birthday hat ?? as she celebrates a teammate!) She currently leads the Lab’s emergent research around chronic absenteeism alongside the dream team of Michelle Jia and Goutham Marimuthu, and you’ll hear her speak to some of what they’re learning and doing in that work in the video. Drop a line if you’re curious to learn more about their findings and next steps. Also, who else wants to start playing high-low-buffalo to end their week? ????

Day 5 of our 7-day challenge on reflections for a happier life: "How do you feel when you say no to someone's request?" Sometimes we say yes to requests- to take on a new project at work, to organize the school fundraiser, to volunteer for an organization - even when we don't have capacity, time, or interest to do so. Saying no can show good boundaries and strong self-care. But how do you feel when you say no? Guilt? Embarrassment? (Relief?) Grab a pen and a beautiful journal or notepad and write out what you feel when you say no to someone's request. Then consider why you feel that way, and give yourself permission to re-write the story and focus on your boundaries. It's OK to say no to someone's request.

Day 1 of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA) PowerNET conference in the books! I was lucky enough to facilitate a 3-hour “deep dive” workshop this morning with Marna Goldwin, CEO of The Ark in Chicago, on the role of the board in capacity building. What an incredible group of lay and professional leaders who came together to consider their visions for the board’s work in 2024 and beyond. Biggest takeaway? We were all looking to expand the definition of fundraising so that every volunteer can find their comfortable place in this work — identifying prospects, cultivating relationships, and saying thank you to donors. Fundraising is about so much more than asking for the gift. How are you working to bring your board’s work to the next level?

Grateful to serve the grantees of the Simons Foundation yesterday and got to catch up with friends Brooke Richie-Babbage, molly delano, and Becky Endicott, CFRE! My roundtable was about Demystifying Money...you know I'm all about talking about the money, honey! Some powerful takeaways: 1) We all have money baggage and trauma no matter who you are, how much you had (or didn't) and it takes conscious, intentional effort to recognize and shift the thought patterns. 2) Your self-worth should not be tied to outcomes. Whether you get the gift or not is ultimately not up to you. Regardless, you are worthy. 3) Fundraising is like creating art. You are not going to be for everybody, so find your people and help them be part of something greater than themselves. 4) Money is energy. We are but the vessels through which it flows so we need to be conscious of the blocks that we construct that restrict the flow. 5) Change starts with our identities and our decision to BE the kind of person who embraces fundraising. Thanks so much to Whitney Gaskins PhD, CDP, Jenny Quinn, Steven Melendez, Kyle Marian Viterbo, Jennifer Brooks, Robert Fernandez, Ran Yan

In honor of Family Day here are some great tips on how to make your Fundraising events fun for the whole family!
In honor of Family Day we here at Sentinel Consulting want to tackle a fun subject! How to make our fundraising events fun for all ages. We have all been the person in charge of looking after a kid at an adult event and boy do they get bored fast! While we can enjoy a bit of witty repartee around a gala table or a nice walk/run through the city, what engages kids is completely different. By choosing events that can be tailored to kids or adjusted to have kid-friendly areas we make the event more accessible to those with young children in their lives. But even more than that we allow for different forms of community to be built at and around the event. As parents get help entertaining their kids for an evening, we get a chance to share some age-appropriate understanding about our mission and to excite the next generation about what they are capable of! Check out this article on some ideas on how to make your event fun for all ages: https://lnkd.in/gmU3NRwZ

One of our community outreach events was featured on the Back to Besa show with FOX news capture by the ever active Converge Media Team. Check it out in the link below. Our mission is to help our youth outperform their current environments. While we have a wide reach a majority of our children and families exist in King and Pierce Counties. If you want to get involved we have a Gala coming up November 2nd. Contact me for details. How do we heal a nation? Listen to the needs of the states. How do we heal the states? Listen to the needs of the counties And the counties? Listen to the needs of the cities And how do we heal the cities? Listen to the needs of the families. And how do we shape a better future? Took A Clifton’s Strength Finder Assessment and let results are…?? -Restorative -Empathy -Positivity -Winning Others Over (woo) -Relator Raise your hand if you’re surprised ?? ???? Maybe it’s because I lived in several states growing up, and had to make community wherever my feet were planted not only to survive - but thrive. Yes, building relationships is natural to me but I had to learn tactics for navigating relationships for impact. I recognize how it isn’t always natural to strike up casual conversation that turns into new business but it happens all the time. Spend a couple hours with me on Nov 16th to fine tune your ability to connect with intention and purpose. And learn how to communicate your ideas, interests, and value with anyone…. The best part? I am using my skill set to empower and to raise money for March of Dimes — the leader in ensuring maternal health care continues to impact the moms that need it most in Tennessee.
