This is why we've chosen to support Handicap International - Humanity & Inclusion through our adventure this year: Mahmoud loves going to school and making new friends. Mahmoud is six years old. He has an older brother and a younger sister. When he was 14 months old, doctors diagnosed him with anoxia and developmental disorders. The consequences of a complications at birth during a caesarean delivery. Mahmoud depends entirely on his mother to eat, go to the toilet and control his sphincters and bladder. He can't sit up without support...yet. Thanks to Handicap International, Mahmoud can go to a handicap-accesssible public school close to his home. He benefits from intensive classroom support, individual home-schooling sessions and physical therapy (including hand coordination exercises to hold a pen, for example. Something you and I don't even have to think about.) ? Handicap International provides him with school supplies, a school bag, transportation and a wheelchair for mobility. It's all part of the Heroes Project. In Jordan ???? , the Heroes Project provides access to pre-school education for out-of-school disabled boys and girls aged 4 to 6. It's been running for two years and helps 50 disabled children. ? By supporting existing early intervention and community rehabilitation systems at community level by linking them to pre-school education services. ? By bringing together parents and caregivers, early intervention specialists, community rehabilitation volunteers and teachers. ? Ensuring school enrolment and personalized support for children with disabilities. Services that we take for granted here in France, but that would be inaccessible for children like Mahmoud in Jordan. This is why we are running through the desert, to raise money for Handicap International. Help us help these children by making a donation to our cause: ?? https://lnkd.in/e3R5-ntE Photo credit : ? Guidance Carolina is a private, non-profit organization located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Guidance Carolina began operations in 1979 in response to a growing need for person-centered assistance, intervention, and advocacy for older adults and persons with disabilities. Since our inception, we have maintained a focus on providing person-centered guardianship and supported decision-making services for people with diminished capacity who have no family or friends available to help them. In the early 1980s, Guidance Carolina (previously Corporation of Guardianship) was awarded certificates to construct and expand services to include the operation of small community-based homes for people with developmental disabilities. This was a way to ensure that our clients would not be forced into institutional environments. Guidance Carolina quickly spun off that program in order to keep true to our vision and mission of dedicated advocacy, case management, and fiduciary services to our clients. In the mid-1990s, we amended our charter to include Special Needs Trust Administration as one of our services. This new service allowed individuals with disabilities or their families to put aside money specifically for the disabled individual’s care, without these assets counting as part of their personal wealth. By 2001, Guidance Carolina expanded our trust administration services to include the Umbrella First-Party Pooled Trust and in 2022, we added the Community Third-Party Pooled Trust which made trust services available to an even broader population of older adults and persons with disabilities. In our more than four decades of service to the community, Guidance Carolina has enabled thousands of older adults and individuals with disabilities across North Carolina to live full and more independent lives. One in five children in the United States has a special health care need requiring more than routine health services, and one in four adults report having a disability. Despite these numbers, disability-related grants represent just 2% of total philanthropic giving. The Lucile Packard Foundation for Children's Health?(LPFCH) and the?WITH Foundation (WITH) are committed to addressing the needs of individuals with disabilities and special health care needs, and to disability-inclusive philanthropy. These values led our foundations to jointly fund? The National Alliance to Advance Adolescent Health?(NAAAH) effort to foster effective transitions from pediatric to adult health care. LPFCH and WITH co-wrote a piece for Grantmakers In Health’s Views from the Field series to offer actionable guidance for how foundations can promote disability inclusion and highlight the NAAAH’s efforts as an example of disability-inclusive work that engages individuals with lived experience. ???????? “?????????????????? ???? ??????????????????: ?????? ???????????? ???????????????????????? ?????? ???????????????????? ?????? ?????????? ?????? ???????????????????????? ???? ?????????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????????”:? https://lnkd.in/gRqs6DyU

Team Woofgang is a Fairfield, Connecticut-based non-profit organization that strives to provide daily purpose for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Team Woofgang was founded in 2017 by Kelly Maffei, Amy Stern, and Kris Burbank, three mothers of adults with disabilities. After noticing a lack of opportunities for neurodiverse adults after completing school-centric education, they created Team Woofgang to help their team members become life-long learners, develop useful job skills, and experience social opportunities that would otherwise be difficult to access. Team Woofgang achieves these objectives through two avenues: baking and selling their all-natural dog treats and other Team Woofgang products. Through staff roles at a baking facility in Bridgeport, Connecticut and a flagship retail store in Fairfield, Team Woofgang’s team members gain valuable experience that helps them grow into more successful adults. From participating in the initial baking process to selling products to retail consumers, Team Woofgang’s Team Members play a vital role in each step from product creation to revenue generation. With Professor Jay Mandel’s #actlikeamarketer initiative in mind I wanted to recognize Team Wolfgang for its great products, but also for their commitment to lifting up young neurodiverse adults and bringing awareness to a worthy cause.?

Intellectual disabilities (ID) are characterized by significant limitations in both intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior. This affects many everyday social and practical skills. People with ID learn at a slower pace and have a harder time adapting to new situations. But with the right support, they can lead fulfilling and meaningful lives. ?? At Bridge2Tomorrow, we believe in the potential of every child. By understanding intellectual disabilities, we can create a more inclusive and supportive environment for neurodivergent kids. The Deaf Organizations Fund (DOF) has announced its 2025 grantees, demonstrating a powerful commitment to supporting deaf communities across the United States. Four innovative organizations will receive a total of $100,000 in unrestricted funding to address critical needs within their communities. Selected grantees include Atomic Hands, Deaf Defy, Inc., DEAFinitely, Inc., and The Black Deaf Project. These organizations will leverage the funds to enhance educational resources, improve healthcare accessibility, and create expanded opportunities for DeafBlind youth. The grant selection process was notably community-driven, with a record 84 applications reviewed by a community-led grant review committee. This participatory approach reflects DOF's commitment to trust-based philanthropy and grassroots empowerment. 'Our goal is to provide more than just financial support,' said Sasha Ponappa, DOF's Executive Director. The organization plans to offer additional resources including coaching, technical assistance, and developing an accessible training program for deaf organization leaders. Since its establishment in 2021, DOF has distributed nearly $500,000 across 27 deaf-centric organizations. This latest funding cycle represents another significant step in supporting deaf community infrastructure and advocacy. By prioritizing deaf-led organizations and providing flexible funding, DOF is creating meaningful pathways for sustainable community development and empowerment. #DeafCommunity #NonprofitImpact #Accessibility
